Really can't see this working. It will just encourage pedestrians (some of whom are clearly fools) to run out between buses ('I can't miss the tube - might have to wait 4 minutes for the next one') and into the road without looking where car/van drivers/motorbikes (dangerous fools) will splat them. Regularly.

I'd rather have the option of that than the soulless barriers we used to have.

I'm a very happy pedestrian now I can run between buses more easily.

I just need a routemaster replacement now so I can hop off while stuck in traffic and I'll be even happier.

and the pedestrians are certainly using it now in big numbers, which I imagine will get even bigger once they get a bit bolder
