The most boring film you've ever seen

It was a cinematic "experience". Except the last half hour of the last one.

I went to see the 3 hour long musical and that was one of the worst afternoons of my life. It was unbearable and i'd previously imagined hobbits singing "One ring" to the tune of that U2 song.

Haha you saw Lord of the Rings the Musical?!??!! HAHAH! NO WONDER you hate musicals!

I don't like cinematic experiences, I don't really like it when the camera lingers too much on one piece of mis-en-scene. I'm MTV generation you see. I prefer Baz Luhrmann films where the whole thing is basically one long music video.

The idea of watching Lord of the Rings in a cinema brings me out in actual nervous heart palpitations. I mean, the idea is so scarily boring to me,, and the idea that I wouldn't even be able to sigh or natter or moan or get up and make a cuppa during it, well, oh god it makes me feel panicky.

I haven't seen it btw, I just KNOW that it is long and boring to me.

A friend of mine saw it in a cinema in Chicago that has waiters serving alcohol. Some people were playing a game where they had to down a shot whenever any character said "ring". Would that make it more tolerable for you?

YES! Yes that would be fine. Getting progressively drunk during any kind of event makes it fine though tbf.

koyaanqitsi or whatever it's called

if anyone says that's one of their favourite films they are either a liar or an idiot

why does it always appear on these lists? it's not even fun when you're stoned

I must be a liar or an idiot Im afraid

Its not soemthing I bang on everyday, but it is fantastic.

PS alos found the CD soundtack at the charity shop for a quid. Win!

Lost in Translation and Moulin Rouge are two films that were so boring, I'm not even sure if I saw the whole film - at some point my brain got so bored that it left my head and went off to somewhere more interesting, like the carpet. Lots of people love those films, but they're not for me.

King Kong! Well, the newer one.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The worst thing is at the end when you're tormented by the "is she actually gona shag Kong?!?!?!" mind trickery bullshit due to the filming and GRRRRRRR

That's one piece of shit film. Peter Jackson needs a massive Palm-f'ace award for his lack of ability to edit...

Yet LOTR, except for the very end which was a bit poor, has nary a stray moment, in nearly 11 hours.

King Kong I agree- parts impressed me, but I will never watch it again.

for me the Most mind numbingly dull film that ive PAID to see has to be LOTR(1st one).:(
i had a BAD feeling about it cos i havent been "into" fantasy since ive been about 14(when i read the silly LOTR book..well just part 1..that cured my interest in the genre;)) but in the end i just went along with a friend who is a fantasy fan just to be nice.esp hated all the battle scenes..mainly i was looking forward to going to the pub with her when it ended.kept dreaming of a drink thruout..god it was a loooong wait to get that drink.
no iguana sadly the cinema in london didnt serve drinks:p think i might have enjoyed that ring game tho, sounds fun.

brokeback mountain was dull as hell IMHO and i like some slow moving arty films like for example kiarostamia's "taste of cherry".hated how the lead actors mumbled their way thru it.it just didnt hold my interest much, i did want to like it .im convinced the ppl that rave about it so much are slightly blinded by heath leadger and the other ones looks..that didnt work for me tho

I reckon most films these days could do with having at least half an hour chopped out of them. There's always some point, towards the middle of the end where I totally start zoning out and thinking about what to have for tea or 'what kind of animal is cyril sneer?'. Shit like that.

I don't think my brain is built to cope with anything more than 2 hours and even 2 hours is a push.

the worst thing is that you don't get to see kong's dong

Citizen Kane...what a load of shit! I sat through it waiting for something to happen...and nothing dull dull dull.

You seen Princess Monokoke? Got that as well but havent watched it yet....

yep

mononoke hime... it's... ok it has nice moments but i never felt captivated by it... i think it is because i wasn't that fond of the characters, rather than people they felt like set piece characters... it's a good film overall but not one i feel any deep affection for

I can never understand why people go to see LOTR (if they know they aren't into fantasy) and bitch about it.

After all, in terms of being a fantasy film, that trilogy is about as perfect as it can be.

It's stunning, almost from start to finish, and none of the films feel anywhere near as long as they are. THey're really long and yet I've watched them a zillion times.

I mean - fine, you don't like fantasy, but it's almost impossible to say that they aren't a spectacularly well done version of it (BOTH in terms of look AND human interest, the characters aren't oscar winners but they still have pathos).

The only people who have any right to quibble over the LOTR films are the proper Tolkien obsessives who go to the other extreme and complain about plot changes, it not being 8000 hours, etc.

;
IMO

Yeah, out of all the ghibli films it's not one I rate super highly. Not that it's a bad film, it's actually pretty good. It's just that I am used to really really loving Ghibli films. Well that was until Gedosenki. Grrr. Now that was a boring arse number of a film.
