the Liverpool v Chelsea thread

You should be.

We deserved to win. Your hoof it up field tactics made me laugh - £300m and you're hit and hope. Nice one.

Nice to see corrupt refs still in the game.

Three penalties not given.

Liverpool passed better than Chelsea and deserved to win the game.

It was dull but Chelsea games usually are.

Boring boring Chelsea.

Looking forward to watching the game on Sunday then I take it?

Dunno about the first penalty shout - Drogba's challenge was fairly typical of the man, but Hyppia didn't have the ball under control.

Gallas' handball though.. ref had a good view.

Still, I'm not getting on any video ref bandwagon - what would we have to yak about if every decision went the right way?

"It wasn't over the line".....one of the greatest myths in football that one.

Mourinho is a bad sport and an arrogant egomaniac.

Anyone see that little indent Sky put on before the game? Mourinho sitting in front of the telly, endlessly replaying Garcia's goal. On the table next to him, a picture of Gerrard kissing the European Cup.

I like Jose. He's funny.

How can anyone not like Mourinho? He is a great personality and good for the game.

I saw Mourinho make a sharp exit, but he seems pretty tight with Benitez, so I'd be surprised if there was any Drunkard/Wenger-stlye animosity, particularly as Chelsea had very little to bitch about last night.

Maureen went straight to the dugout and shook Rafa's hand and legged it down the tunnel within a second of the whistle going. They are quite pally.

Cisse can only be compared to Diouf in that they have both been asked to play wide right when they are actually strikers. Cisse is fast as fuck and Liverpool's current lack of goals is crying out for him to be played with Crouch in a 4-4-2. He is wasted on the wing and is not comfortable there. He is a class act as a striker and would prove it if he was given a 5-10 match run in that position.

Liverpool would have more success with Gerrard playing wide right rather than Cisse.

Look on the bright side, at least it meant John Arne Riise didn't have an excuse to get his kit off again....

Did he fuck.
Yup he did just before the whistle blew he went over to the bench then he was down the tunnel by the time the third blast had been blown. ;)
He gets a lot of stick from the fans behind the away bench for winding them up in the past so i'm sure he was keen to fuck off quick :D

lol.

I shudder to think what he would have done if he'd have scored the winner!

What was that all about? :D

I am sure I read an article that said "he thought he went too far"! :D

Apparently he apologised and said that he got 'a bit carried away'.No shit. :D

Still at least he didn't get paid for it unlike Milan Baros with his topless Czech Playboy photoshoot. (don't Playboy usually print photos of women with their kit off?) I was gutted when you sold him to Villa,i miss the gratuitous pictures of him in the Echo. :(

Funny how I missed it then. It must have taken place for the nanosecond I turned away from the telly. But he was off down the tunnel quicksmart.

He sometimes shakes the other manager's hands before the final whistle goes. When Crespo scored the last minute winner against Wigan, he went straight to Jewell and shook his hand, without waiting for the restart.

Chelsea: the original rich man's club

I like Mourinho, he's entertaining and good for the game. He's still an arrogant twat as well though - it was great to see the gutted look on his face last night as he was interviewed....he was trying to cover up his disappointment, but it was plain to see.

It wasn't over the line last year, so justice has been done. ;)
Er.....don't think so - if the ref hadn't given the goal last year he would have sent off Cech and given a penalty - remember?

Football is dead! Long live cricket! ;)
 groan....what are you doing on this thread then? I wish all these journos and others who are saying "cricket is the new football" would practice what they're preaching and just pi$$ off and watch the cricket. They can leave the footy to us innit.

By the way, does anyone know that Chelsea are indeed the original rich man's club?

This month's When Saturday Comes said:
Other football clubs tend to have their roots in the factory floor, the church, or simply the pub. Chelsea were created out of entreprenurial ambition. In 1904 H.A. 'Gus' Mears needed to fill the vacant Stamford Bridge athletics stadium after Fulham refused to take up an offer to play their home games there. So Stamford Bridge - host to track and field and later greyhound racing, speedway and American football - became the home of Chelsea FC. That a club founded as a money-making concern should reach a position of pre-eminence in a league now geared solely towards the generation of funds seems, not so much a moment of dramtic histroical irony, but quite logical.

Chelsea, they can't even fill up their ground, no-one wants to watch them.

Not that that has anything to do with the ticket prices at Stamford Bridge, of course.
