The Lido im confused

All i was trying to say was when you have 2 million to play with dont you think they could of spent it on heating it....When i went, only 2 people were swimming and a poor board life guard......I mean come on if it was heated a little then everyone would be in!!! Not just 2 months of the year.....with takings of £20 a day.

**pedant alert** if you're so worried about the state of the life guards please learn to distinguish between board and bored... they really aren't flat **pedant alert over**.

It's an outdoor pool, it was a grim and drizzly saturday afternoon, it's going to be a bit empty (I was quite possibly one of the two there, and had a lovely time, though I did also feel sorry for the life guards). In some ways I'm sure the prices reflect the fact that the numbers of people using it is always going to be unpredictable.

(also it's £2.60 before 10am, wouldn't want anyone going along 10p short)

Just back from a wonderful lido swim. I had the pool to myself, which although not exactly cost efficient for Fusion, it was a lovely experience. They're getting their money's worth out of me with my season ticket anyway.

mwareing1 - it's all about SO much more than just the swimming. As suggested, if you simply want a warm, pampered swim, the Lido 'aint for you. I enjoy the calm and peace that I can find there, only a five minute cycle out of Brixton.

The £2m investment was never set aside for the pool. It was all about making the lido become more self sufficient throughout the winter months. You can't really argue with that... (although at the time, I did. Very pleased to have been proven wrong. The gym stuff is well hidden away and the ambience of the original building remains.)

If you really wanted a heated swim outdoors, try the fantastic London Fields Lido. I was there until December of last year. But be warned - you still get the extreme cold, even with a pool temperature at 30 degrees. The walk from the indoor changing rooms to poolside is 'harsh' in Decemeber, and then you need to keep your head under water, just to stop it from exploding.

Heating Brockwell would just be WRONG. As stated, it's what it is. If that 'aint for you, then move on. At least you have given it a try, albeit during a very unwelcoming 'summer' period.

Now then - Tooting hardcore massive: How the hell do you swim outdoors, unheated, 365 days a year? I jumped in and straight out in April of this year.

a lot of triathletes use it for training and they have a thin wetsuit designed for swimming mobility on.

:D

i went last saturday too after yoga.

and i thought the same. they really ought to have a cheaper entrance on colder days. as it is a literal in and out affair. not worth a fiver.

plus this way considering the bad summer they really make no business..
