    Bleak as fuck.

Very well done (a couple of minor quibbles notwithstanding) a blunt, powerful ,counterpoint to the liberal handwringing of Years and Years.

    Watch it.

The Left Behind BBC: ‘We have a choice’ Creator defends portrayal of far-right

Yes, shades of Boys from the Blackstuff, made by the team behind the excellent, History Of Our Streets, and the drama Killed By My Debt, which got 11 million watches.

    "I’m a fucking ghost, don’t become a ghost son"

though things have got much worse!

They made a point of getting W/C locals as extras, the powerful housing meeting had the actors in it, but most of the outbursts were heartfelt cries for help.

starting to get criticism from the wokesters.

I can guess but what is the substance of their criticism?

  10. Part 2

    Part 2 bizarre wanking accident

Watched it last night by chance.

The scene in the housing office and the council meeting were brilliantly done. I've sat in so many homeless assessments where the housing worker has no power or resources to do anything and completely unable to manage the expectations of the young person. Gethin's frustration was very real.

Is this getting more traction on twitter, not on it.

There is very little traction, for obvious reasons. Where are these woke criticisms you've mentioned? What are they?

Yes. It's brilliant - though provoking, real, heartbreaking and polemic.

Iplayer is free by the way!

I liked Years and Years too. It's interesting to watch them both and compare and contrast.

I'll watch both, but with my handwringing liberal attitudes

Finally got round to watching first episode. Bleak. Bit clunky in places but had me absorbed.

Out of interest, what are the hyper liberals criticising?

I've asked treelover this twice up thread and he's not answered. But for the 3rd time I would also like to know what criticism has been leveled at the programme.

    Patteran A nowadays excuse

All I've seen are meta-representations of criticism - the programme producers pre-supposing other people's imagined criticism along the lines of 'you've written a character who demands empathy but also exhibits hateful behaviours', & defending this approach in a couple of online interviews. I don't know if these are the sources, but I can't see much else out there.

I can't either which is why I asked. A more accurate review of the response to the prorgramme would be to note the absence of engagement with the issues it raises or the book (The Rise of the Right) which part influenced it.
