i take back what i said about Blackpool getting the better end of the Vernon-Wellens swap deal. Cheers Blackpool! :D

and can i sincerely apologise to any yeovil fans reading for the PA bloke at Boundary Park who thought it would be funny to piss you all off and try to get us stabbed on the way home by playing I've Got A Brand New Combine Harvester and I Am A Cider Drinker. Neither big nor clever nor funny. :o

If one more Owdham Bucket Rattlers fan says "Richie Wellens had a good debut" I'll implode.

Short essay on 'the magnificant 7' as our PA called him...

He's a class act - certainly a cut above our division and if you play a passing game he's capable of being the lynch pin of your midfield. He's mobile, full of tricks and is a great passer (on his day.) His biggest strength for me, is he is unusual in lower players in possesing the ability to make a bit of space for himself in a crowded midfield.
He doesn't score as many as perhaps he could, and if he doesn't feel wanted, his head will drop. He's also prone to getting far to many stupid bookings and is without doubt a target for referees in our league.

Verndog had a quiet start, but there was enough there to suggest he's a decent player, could have scored a couple and was pretty hard working. I'd have loved to have both players to be honest, but Wellens was never going to play for Hendry and always going to be the scapegoat for our failings so I'm pleased we got a decent player in exchange for him. We sold him to you for Vernon because United would get 50% of any money we got, and no-one in our league is paying fees these days.

What a pity Luke Beckett is injured eh?

naaah mate, after our grossly unfortunate defeat on saturday, we will be deadly in our first home gamne of the season.

3-1 rovers, if you're lucky.

Setting off now. Grossly optimistic 1-0 to pool prediction. Heart rules head and all that.

Yeah,we just don't seem to be able to find the back of the net without him do we? :p :D
Making the most of it while it lasts ie before we get robbed blind as per bloody usual at tranmere on friday,so don't you dare say it doesn't count after 2 games.

now??!!

are you walking?

Nah mate, went to Liverpool for a few beers first :)

Fantastic performance, I thought Tranny looked good in flashes, there were a few moments when you got the ball down and spread it arround and we had no answer to it at all. Should have been a penalty to each team as well as the two goals there were.
That is the kind of performance we need to produce, full of commitment and fight. Larry Grayson gets better the older he gets as well. Very happy with the result as we matched tranmere all the way and you are tipped to go up. Typical pool to lose at home to the relegation favorites and then match one of the promotion favorites away from home.

Rosa - Oldham are looking fantastic - how on earth did you get Andy Liddell? I'm amazed he couldn't get a gig in the championship tbh.

On to Yeovil on Sat, I'm not going to that one - but as they havn't scored yet, you've got to give us a chance, If we play like we did against Tranmere I think 3 points could well be ours.

not confident about tonights game, another biggie! we used to do okay when we played on friday's in the past, but its been a while now, and the oldies are starting off disturbingly well. we gotta win if our season aint gonna be fucked almost from the off tho.

I've been keeping an eye on Walsall ever since Paul Merson took over the reigns as Player - Manager from Colin Lee. It's been a good start for the saddlers so far, gritty win against Rotherham and an super win against promotion favourites Forest.

Next match is a home game against the men from the Essex coast Southend. Should be a good game, beacuse the shrimpers like to play good possession footie.

Not a bad result eh?!

We drew 1-1 with Yeovil today, from the sounds of it, we should have got beaten, but at least we showed some resiliance. Young keeper Lewis Edge came on after about 20 mins because Lee Jones got injured and had a good game. He's got to be our brightest prospect, and it looks like he might get his chance now. If lads like Ruddy and Foster can do it at 18 then why not Edge.

Beat Forest 2-1! Looking forward to Blackpool away next Saturday now.

Some sun would be nice!

Aaaaaargh fucking hell.......
didn't take long for crushing, bitter, inevitable disappointment and despair to set in at Boundary Park did it.First half was typical Tranmere v Oldham-we had the best of the possession, referee was fucking awful,Tranmere nick a goal just before half time-but the way we fell to bits in the second half was disgraceful.i guess the 3-5-2 formation works better when you've got wingers who can defend instead of full backs who are fucking useless going forward.

As if the game itself wasn't bad enough i had some dickhead behind me who managed to call the referee a 'paki',a 'japanese twat' and a 'chinese cunt'.The referee was white, incidentally, but no-one ever said racists were logical.  i'm not sure who i was more disgusted at-him for hurling racist abuse or me for not saying anything to him. :(

tangerinedream-i haven't got a fucking clue how we got andy liddell, and if we carry on playing like we did on friday i haven't got a clue how we'll keep hold of him.

It's just a blip for Oldham, I'm sure. Ronnie Moore's a bit of a all or nothing manager isn't he, your bound to get tanked every now and again. When we drew with Tranmere, as a whole they looked off form, but there were moments when they looked far better than us. They will be up there at the end of the season.
How was Richie? Has Paul Edwards played yet? - He's a complete crock in my opinion. Vernon has been excellent in the last two games, strong running, intelligent, good touches. We've started singing his name too.

Wellens did ok,it was more out wide where we kept losing possession. Is Brian Talbot managing anywhere now? Would be nice to see Vernon score a hat-trick against his team, still can't figure out why talbot decided he was no use to us.

blimey, another signing!

Alex Bruce generously leant to us from Brum by, mm, his dad!

Spells at Oldham & Wednesday last season went prett ywell for him, seems like a sound chap to me, we could do with a bit more at full-back.

he did ok for us but he was never really the same player after the manchester evening news inadvertently published a photo of him with his bollocks out after we beat Man City.

Well Walsall have got the monkey hangers Hartlepool. That will be another interesting match, especially for new Saddlers skipper Chris Westwood playing against his old club. It seems that Forest, Mackems and even West Ham are interested in Matty Fryatt the England U19 player who made an good imapct in the Euro U19 tournament.

Seasiders sign keeper, Les Pogliacomi from Oldham. The low down seems to be - when he's good he's very good and when he's bad he's awful. Most Oldham fans think it's a decent signing.

Pool 0-0 Swindon.

The sun shone for Onket as requested, but the game was crap. We defended fairly well, the new keeper, Pogliacomi did well, nice and commanding, great to see a keeper who's vocal between the sticks.
Up front we weren't bad, the odd nice bit of link up play and two or three decent chances. We were terrible in midfield though.

Nobody really shone for swindon, as a team they played some decent stuff and seemed to have the better of the possesion but the delivery at crucial points was pretty dire.

Very poor crowd too.

Don't you have your own thread? For discussing losing in Cardiff and last minute defeats? If you lot had endured 5 years without moving forward and no investment in your team, there would be a lot less of you sat on old men's faces than there is now.

I'd probably agree too, if I'd made it to the game. Top weekend, why spoil it by going to football?! Suffering now though.

I bet you didn't catch the 9.05am train on Sunday as planned did you? I didn't.

It was the 9.12am actually, and yes I did! The train from Preston was delayed by 45 minutes though, and when it eventually turned up it was in a right state. Empty vodka bottles, broken glass, beer all over the tables. Bloody football fans.
