The League One (Div 2) Thread

We've lost 8 players & signed 2.

Beat that!!!!
6 out, none in! (& the 6 doesnt include McAteer who I'm sure said he was only playing for one season)

Still be good enough to beat Swansea tho.

He says, very very hopefully.

The excuse, sorry, reason, given on the Tranmere lists is that as most contracts only officially end today, no one was going to buy anyone until now anyway.

Hope so.

oh aye. Also, Tranmere DID have a very big squad for Division Two (as Im happy to see the BBC web address still calls it) nyway.

Looks like we're signing Jamie Cureton and Tony Thorpe from QPR and we're after Jack Smith from Watford.

Good signngs by all accounts, as long as the ex-QPR players avoid injury.

We still need some midfielders though, otherwise Rockin Robin will have to play.

Here he is making a nuisance of himself-

way hey!

Tranmere buy players horror!

Whitmore and Goodison sign new 1 year deals.

Fowler and Martin sign new Professional contracts.

Aiston (Left Winger from Shrewsbury) and Wilson (GK most recently from Macclesfield but Little had him at Hull) sign up.

Not really that inspirational (tho dunno what the youths are actually like, like)

Isn't that mascot your club captain as well???

How very witty.

All joking aside, he might get a call up if we don't get some midfield players in.

Fucking hell.i thought our mascot was bad... :D
Looking at the signings in L1 today and seeing oldham have bought their 9th player (the very excellent Andy Liddell - Olham are going up or close).
ahhh, you say the nicest things.Absolutely made up about Liddell.Been following oldham too long to be capable of optimism but i'm impressed with ronnie moore's signings-not least getting rid off that useless lazy lump of shit Kevin Betsy.and thank fuck we missed out on Mike Pollitt.
We going to the Highlands for pre season, the players are sleeping in an RAF dorm, in bunk beds and everything. Glam or what!
We've gone to Ibiza.First time we've been abroad since the Anglo-Italian cup (what a genuis idea that was-get a load of really small skint clubs to fly across Europe and play in front of 200 people).Been haunted by the mental image of David Eyres on the pull in Manumission all week.
edited to add:just been on our club website, and our match against Nottingham Forest on February 14th has been put back to the 15th 'to avoid clashing with Valentine's Day'.What in the name of fuck?

I would of thought Boundary Park would have been a prime location for valentines day in Oldham  :D

The older Eyresy get's the more he looks like Frankenstiens Monster in my eyes.

Not looking forward to playing you unless we get our fingers out and sign some players.

Quickly.

Where do ya reckon you will finish this year Onket anyway???

Fuck knows mate.

If we can get another midfielder, a hardman with experience, then we may well be in with a chance. With so many changes I guess we'll have to see how the team gels.......

Apparently we've [Palace] bid £1.2m for Commons of Forest. Bit much in my view but still. Any Forest fans on here? Or anyone know if he's much good?

I think Swindon will do ok. between 6th and 9th.

hmmm, apparantly the mighty pool are going to make one if not two, very exciting signings  I have it on good authority there is a WOW (his words) signing in the pipeline. *please be Brett* *prays to all known gods*

It's not going to be Brett but if we can bring two decent attacking options in, suddenly i'll be all excited about the new year. I am still desperately worried about the strength of the squad.

*unless its Brett on loan* *prays again, flays self, meditates*

He's staying at forest, signed a new contract I think.

Staying on at Forest this season. If they don't go back up he'll be on his way then.

Spent beginning of last season on the bench. When he did come on he looked well outa shape and totally unfit. Had a few good games towards the end of the season. On a good day he's too good for division 2, but so far he's not been good enough for div 1.

Signing him's a bit of a gamble tbh

It was Luke Beckett who turned us down to go to Oldham cos we wouldn't pay for him to move house.

hmmm.

We're signing accrington winger Rory Prendergast this week. Er..... wow.

We signed Accrington winger Rory Prendergast.

We lost to Lancaster City, Inverness CT
drew with Morcambe and Ross County
beat Keith

and we play Chester next week - £12 for a ticket! - I'm in Wales fo't weekend so luckily I can't go.

and for some reason I've started to become all optomistic and excited. Despite a crap pre-season and the fact we are 4/5 players short (clearly) of making any impact on the season. We have a decent 11 and nowt else. I'm very worried that our manager doesn't actually have any contacts in the game at all. Still we've got the best centre half in the league and a 21 yr old lad who looks great up front and we'll graft if nothing else and the last of the 'enigmas' have left the club. It's going to be interesting because big col can't hide this year and say 'I had no time to prepare - he's had a pre season and they are his team now

New kit comes out on Friday and finally we are rid of the 'Pricebusters' on the front of the shirt - the sponser is a mystery but apparantly it's a good one, best for ten years (but ten years ago, the sponser was Rebecca's Jewellers of Southport so we'll see)

Luke Beckett, Oldham's (aka the bucket rattlers) big signing broke down in a pre season game and medial knee ligament damage is suspected - dunno what that means scientifically but it normally means a long time out. Glad we didn't buy him now - but he would score against us in a wheelchair so I'm not too triumphant. (thought th'owdham fans reckon he'll be back in 4 weeks)

Bristol City seem to be lining up a great strike force, Bridges has gone there with Marcus Stewart, IF they stay fit, they'll be a handfull

Gary Megson is at it again, calling his forest players rubbish in pre season, he's an absolute idiot that man.

John Hills went to Sheffiald Wednesday after I got all excited he was coming back, bastard said he was tempted and everything.

Gillingham are going to be good - Neale Cooper knows the score, he's a good boss, and the right man to carry on what Ternant started.

oopsidaisy, chezzy at home is one you shouldnt be tossing away if you wanna get somewhere this year.

forest? 2-1 at home v huddersfield.Wasnt pretty, bit clueless from both sides at times. But reassuring to see 24000 through the door to watch what we allexpected to be crap, basically. Top fans, our lot. Sometimes.

You'll never be better than clueless with Megson in charge. Though you'll probably go up.
We made chances and were great for 20 minutes, then we were bloody awful. Rory Prendergast - (see my one man attempts to keep this thread going for details) was excellent though.
I really don't think we have the right manager.....

We'll see, it would be typical Pool to lose to Cheaterfield and beat the Wirral Bin Dippers at Prenton.

Which I am actually going to this season...

naaah mate, after our grossly unfortunate defeat on saturday, we will be deadly in our first home gamne of the season.

3-1 rovers, if you're lucky.
