The Laughing at England Thread

JKKne said:
Hmmm, I know your not Scottish, but for reasons of ease only, I've used some analogy

i'm no fan of scotland - i am no fan of any team that includes rangers players and i am certainly no fan of the SFA - but scotland fans know their place, they are there for the beer and expect to get beat as long as they get to wear ginger wigs and moon at the locals they are a drunk but often happy lot.

very very very different to england - who has arrogance coursing through them from the team to the players to the media... and its that that is piss funny about watching england get beat.

For weeks and weeks on Five Live... competitions for the world cup song...constant yapping about 1966. They really, really went overboard when Scolari was 'announced'.

Those world cup songs sent in by English supporters...a large majority of them were nothing to do with England but a lot to do with Germany and WWII. Quite embarrassing.

Funnily enough I have a lot of time for the current English squad - Lampard, Gerrard, Joe (no, not Ashley) Cole, Terry, Ferdinand and of course Rooney...good omens with that lot. Bit of bad luck Rooney got hurt, frankly I'm more worried pressure is put on to make him play before he's healed, fucking him up for life. I wouldn't put it passed the current shower of shit in the FA and I doubt I'd hear many arguments on that.

However at the end of the day the English based tabloids and the English based media are just unbearable, generally xenophobic. Some of the fans too, but only a minority. Your media let's you down internationally because it is offensive

If you can't stand people having a joke at your expense however...you're not worth much, are you? I mean everyone else can take a joke...but all I see in this thread is 'oooh he must be Scottish...Scots always hate us'. Which is basically more of the same xenophobic shit.

It would be a lot cooler if you could just go along with it and have a laugh. You might as well coz you're not winning the World Cup, that's for sure.

Yes, I'm Scottish. :D

I basically agree with Chorlton.

And I'm English and I want them to win something. But they probably won't ...which is why, whenever I am watching them play in a major championship, I feel like a bloke at a roulette table who has spunked all his money and his borrowing more to try and get his money back.

English footballers are pretty thick, play 'hit and hope' when under pressure, the FA are some of the biggest and most incompetent cunts on the planet and the supporters are living in a state of utter fucking delusion ....when they're not kicki8ng in some foreign bar.

I fucking hate English football.

Anyone lend me fifty quid?

The whole thing reaks of commercialism, and all you guys jump on the band wagon to voice self centred and totally uninformed opinions... the only reason the FA are they it's because with all jobs that require a major part of their time in committees , no other bleeder wants to do it, all you guys mouthing off about how bad they are, get your local club to vote for you to work throught he various levels of the Football Asscoiation, put some time in to work constructively towards improving the game. Then when you have got to the top, and remember a lot of those guys don't get paid for it... I can imagine that gets rid of about 75 per cent of the moaners. you can listen to the rent a gobs spouting crap.

The media whips up the hate and anger, for what, to sell papers , and you guys fall into line to buy them,.,, now that's really smart, flags, face paint, all out of China, and making lots of money at it too.

Scotland versus England, the old enemy, and for very good reasons but meet any Scot away from the 'game' and a more hospitable guy you could not wish to meet, but your Brit, sit on a train any morning and find out how many will talk to you. Visit Germany and again, the warm welcome and hospitable people ... Come to England and get ripped off.....

The English football team are considered by most teams around the world as one of the best ' on their day' , good footballers led by poor and indifferent managers,

The FA have been issueing trainers certificates, advising and training, setting up football academies, and hopefully we will see the results.

The national press will twist, distort any piece of news if they think it will sell an extra newspaper, and the general public doesn't stop to question the validity of the story, Oh no that would require a modicum of intelligence.

A quality sadly lacking from any fotball fans

Yes, all England football fans agree with the press, wave flags, paint their faces and are as thick as pigshit. All Scots are lovely 'away from the game' and no German can wait to welcome you to their country. Where did you get all this from? The media I reckon.

Btw, your own modicum of intelligence obviously doesn't extend to knowing the difference between a Brit and an Englishman, or to spelling 'football' right, you dipshit.

Stop sitting in front of your computer and get out and see life, and meet people in their own country..

The real thing is a lot better.

Wow, a whole post that didn't mention the term 'guys' every sentence.

That aside, I love these England/ English people are arrogant cunts who bang on about 1966 at every posible juncture threads. You see, when you trace the roots of the majority of these posts, you'll find it's either a Jock, a Taffy or a Paddy that started them. Quite pathetically ironic, really.

I lived in Scotland for a while, and I've never seen such a jingoistic, arrogant press/ media in my life as when I lived there. The English press isn't perfect, that's for sure, but many on here that spout this should perhaps look closer to home beofre pointing the accusing finger. Or do they wear these arrogant blinkers for which they are happy to tarnish ALL English people as wearing?

It's the bitter Scots (and Chorlton, but he can be an honoury Scot) that make the arrogance all worthwhile. With no audience to play to you can't have much of a fucking show.

Btw this is the best English squad for years and you're all going to hear about it every day from now until we're knocked out. Then they'll be the squad we thought was the best but somehow didn't click, or were cheated by a ref or whatever. And then we can start it all over again and watch as all the nations of the British Isles, except England, wimp out of the challenge like an impotent man at a brothel and England are there again (where is Euro '08?) and we can enjoy the hype all over.

i am just hugely and unapologetically anti-english when it comes to football - which is a fantasticly rewarding thing to be, but still the english think that its only the scots that hate them... it must be a funny little world.

We don't think it's only the scots - we know there's a range of bitter Celtic people who dislike us.

But we disagree with you lots' constant claims that everyone hates us... if it were true, why do I see Chinese people in my provincial city in China wandering around in England shirts?

you can't have missed the amount of people who assumed i was scottish because i started this thread?

RenegadeDog said:

woah.... i may come out with broad generalisaotions but where exactly did i make that claim... i said that there a lots of nationalities that want egland to get beat...

RenegadeDog said:

... and there are lots that don't - like in asia and perhaps in scandanavia... i would suggest this is down to the fact that the league is hugely popular there thansk to sky and thus the team is a familiar one rather than a fondness for your plucky englishspirit and attractive flowing football

RenegadeDog said:
What leftbacks would you say were better? If he isn't one of the best, why are the major Spanish clubs interested in him?

Of late i have not been watching as much football english or european to really make a call on best full backs in the world - and as to why 'soanish clubs are interested' i could only hazard a guess

1) chelsea are sniffing around and arsenal are at least trying to ensure they get a hugley inflated fee for him but making up a list of potential suitors

2) with the impending retirement t of roberto carlos there is a fear that spanish football willl be without a full back who is oblivious to the concept of defending

years of being called a jock/taffy or a paddy, smug patronising atitudes and a constant air of spuperiority don't exactly endear us to you.

support england then.... go on, get some flags for your car and paint your face, pontificate about metatarsels and how horrid the referees are like every knob in my office seems to do every four years

If I was somewhere where I got that wound up about people I worked with supporting their national team in a major tournament, I'd be questioning my choice of adopted homeland!

** SUBTEXT **

"Love it or leave it"

interesting......

Subtext my arse - if you met somebody living in Kyoto who went into unfathomable paroxysms of rage every time the Japanese team played somewhere, wouldn't you think they were a little mixed up?

i think you might have misread the title of this thread

Laughing at england

not

unfathomable paroxysms of rage at england

hope this helps

if i met someone living in kyoto originally from a country colonised by japan who pissed himself at the sporting achievements of his now hosts, i would, i daresay, be able to relate completely

even more so if his hosts re-acted the way that english do when you point out that their FA is a fucking joke and the meltdown of their favourite football team is causing great amusement...

Why is that then?

i have no desire to cheer on Bob 'FTP' malcolm and the boys while they wear different shirts

your spurs? you cheer on sol in an england shirt?

I tend to try and ignore him but heavily criticise him if he makes a mistake! I dont think he's all that good anymore...

Just out of interest what is the term for Englishman?

I feel sorry for those who need to laugh at anybody, on a message board aswell, to make them feel above it all...with Football aswell, being at the top of everything else..!

Hmmmm. Sounds like there's a political undercurrent to this.

Not that there aren't some good points to be made on that front, but it sounds like politics in football clothing.

Not really.

Since, I'm a Carlisle fan, I have no analogy but I'll do it this way

If I was a Manchester United fan and I'd spent the 180 minutes that we'd played Chelsea in the league barracking Cole and Lampard etc, I couldn't bring myself to cheer them on just because they're playing for England.

I'm sure the majority of Sunderland fans felt that about Shearer and the majority of Liverpool fans about Neville

Anyway, this England things, tis all a bit London :D

Original, i laugh, i feel sorry for myself, on a message board, cybernetically, relieve my boredom, how virtual.

*UPDATE*... an england 'b' team featuring sol campbell, michael owen, jamie carragher amongst others got beat 2-1 at home by belarus.

altogether now: 'its coming home, its coming home...' etc etc etc
