The KLF

I was initially excited, but on reflection I don't really care that much. It might be good, but probably not. And the Now, more than ever we need the KLF! bollocks emerging from middle-aged guys who haven't listened to any volume of new music in 15 years is making me feel a bit stabby.

Then stab someone. Don't just talk about it.

It'll probably be shit. But for that 1% chance which news would you have rather woken up to this morning? Chance of KLF album. Or Craig David world tour announced?

I would rather hear some new, good music. And, wow, there is some over there. I'll be listening to that instead.

The "need more than ever" stuff is as shit as it's predictable, but I guess I'm just curious to see what (if) they do.

I'm old enough to have very mixed opinions about stuff from my era ...

I do agree that such a tour would most likely be shit though. So killer b 's reminder that it won't happen is reassuring.

I know its not the most popular of opinions on here, but I never thought that much of them. I recall them having a couple of ok tunes, but equally a few turkeys as well. Did I miss something? any recomendations?

Who is the artist and what is the name of the piece of work?
i'm not talking about anyone in particular. but listen to Rinse FM, listen to podcasts, check out recommendations on Spotify, on here even. just listen to anything that broadcasts new music, rather than scraping repeatedly over old tunes that remind you of your youth.

Their best talent was for publicity, in my view. I don't rate them.*

* Other opinions are also valid.

You seem to like pissing on people's chips.

So do you.

I'll be listening to new and old music, it isn't an exclusive thing.

and i'm not sure how disagreeing about the desirability of a return of an old band means you're pissing on anyone's chips. no one's stopping anyone being excited.

well well well....
one the one hand we'll have old farts who resist anything new gloating over it, and young folk wanting a rehash of really OLD music.
and on the other hand those grumpy know-it-all nay sayers who'll say it'll all be shit and how much "good music" is around anyhow, which may or may not be true according to opinion.
certainly when it comes to genuinely counter-culture, or genuinely counter-culture influenced sounds, there aint a lot too visible to many people unless they know where to look.

but KLF? K foundation? k2 plant hire ltd? JAMMS?
well, let's remember the history of these two guys so far, especially that they deliberately deleted their WHOLE backcatalogue way back in, what was it? 1992?
and they hate the idea of rehashing old sounds from their past, so...... so?
well, if the proposed sculpture by Cauty and Drummond, whichg is due to apparently transpire on aug 23rd 2017 is to be taken seriously, then the recent hint of new sounds, especially considering the "mysterious poster" (see K2 PLANT HIRE Ltd Poster One ) which appeared in East London, coincidentally discovered by drummonds manager, seems a bit of an obvious lead on or build up start, and creating an in joke, and "oh, we know something you dont know", WHICH, always actually works rather well with the psychedelics scene....

...........Hmmmmm, i hardly reckon they'll be in any way doing the greatest-hits-so-far sets or recordings, IF they indeed do any live sets, which they never really did much of anyway, apart from live and dj parties among their own friends, a few TOTPs, and not a lot else.

BUT, if they were to do live, then i would expect completely new material, some of which would most lilely be done, appaerntly, according to other rumours apparently emanating from themselves, on their old studio which is in a "lost" shipping container (WTF?), and be sure to have some new up to date equipment i'd immagine.

rehashing old material?
i doubt THAT very much, unless we get COMPLETELY reworked stuff included that would be unlikely to closely resemble old stuff too much, or at least not too lazily so, and these guys would likely be pretty thorough.
believe me.

let's hope friends of theirs, "dr" LX Patterson, Youth and the like may be involed or at least watching and giggling from the curtains.

if anything does appear, i would DEFINATELY expect to be prepared to giggle a lot, a hell of a lot, for sure.
and i am sure it'll be fun whatever the hell it ever does turn out to be.

the law of fives! hee hee hee hee!

ha ha, yeh, too true.

though at same time, to be fair, there are a good few moaning know it alls determined that it'll be shit.
lighten up either way i say!

Well in some folks opinion, Jimmy Cauty, one half of klf, despite the commercial internationally biggest singles/album sellers status they gained, sort of jumped the gun by leaving the Orb due to financial ideological differences with Alex and Thomas of the Orb.
certainly the most musically well produced and fine work he produced was with the Orb, even in those very primitive days when the Orb were just finding their feet.
And the Orb are still happily pumping out juicy Psychedelic dub/tech/house/ambient without resording to too much old greatest hits rehashing.

shit, WTF was i going on about?
dammit, being ADHD and still up at this ungodly hour don't half make one yappy with a keyboard!
beware fuckers!

they've made it clear they won't be exploiting their back catalogue. thank fuck, I don't think I could handle another version of 'what time is love'

ha ha ha ha TOTALLY!
since the dawn of digital music formats (mp3, wav, flaac, etc) i have some folders which i just pop ANY remixes of a tune into them.
and KLF (etc) did do a lot of bloody total waffle especially with "What Time..."... most pretty dull.

i mostly found the aura they created and their fun loving way of winding-up the music prerss highly entertaining!
