The Kate Bush mega-thread

I'm for Kate Bush. :) In a slightly more platonic way than some of the other posters sadly, but my dad loved her in a warm tingly way. :D

I haven't heard her new single as I'm abroad but will try to hear it online, what radio show was it played on so I can hear it via 'listen again'?

I heard 'Running Up That Hill' for the first time in years on the radio the other day. A work of edgy genius. I think I'll be giving it a spin next time I do a set.

'Man with the Child in His Eyes' always sends a tingle down my spine even after all these years.

Also the video of 'Army Dreamers' had me sooooo in love with Kate as a teenager. :o :D

I reckon it's gonna be a grower.

I think so too.

Would like to hear it again properly on a decent set of speakers instead of my rubbish walkman headphones I 've got here on my work PC.

One in Kate Bush is worth ten in the hand, as they say.

Seriously, I loved "The Red Shoes", and "Running Up That Hill" is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever put on a recording device.

I love her. I used to wrap curtains round my waist, swing my hair around, and sing into my hairbrush when she was on top of the pops :D

Yeah, I like it. It's got an unusual arrangement, some proper old school live drumming with loads of suitably oddball stuff about "dancing on graves" and "whistling winds."

I reckon it's gonna be a grower.

that's spot on,,,,,,,,really surprised that everyone loves her,,I've always had the "urine extracted" when i say she's great,,
"this woman work" makes me a bit sad but i love it,,,,
When I'm in the secrecy of my kitchen I dance and sing my heart out to her at full blast,,,very empowering ;)

Not sure if a comeback is such a good idea, given her brilliance then and the risk of tainting such an amazing clutch of singles. Saw Fake Bush at Brockwell Lido a year or so ago and actually welled up when she did The Man With The Child in his Eyes. If only I was that moved by normal everyday stuff...Running Up That Hill, Cloudbusting, Hounds of Love.

Her production was underrated too. The Fairlight synthesisers she used on Running Up that Hill just somehow sound bigger and fuller than today's.

What's it called?

Can I download it?

Is she still in good voice?

Did she really get jiggy with her brother?

It's all good motherfucker, when Kate's in town ain't nobody frown.

Yeah babypop!

I just can't get enough of that sweet Bush, and I ain't talking GW.

Shit, it's stuff like this that messes with my head - you always think of Kate Bush as that athletic young thing doing contortionist dancing on top of the pops, just dawned on me that she must be in her fifties now. Bloody hell.

Kate's the same age as me - a youthful 47 :)

One of things I most liked about Kate is that she seemed to come from nowhere. In 1978 it was all disco, punk and that crappy 'power pop' stuff.

Wuthering Heights was one of the most dramatic, what-the-fuck-is-that moments in pop history for me.

I always thought of her as a girly version of prog rock.

She definitely grew out of that era - like punk never heppened.

Kate is a lioness amongst cubs.

Heard the new song about an hour ago, didn't blow my socks off but as has been said it'll be a grower I reckon.
Fucking can't wait for the new record.

We were spoilt rotten in those days: new wave and ska on the one side and Kate Bush prancing around to Wuthering Heights on the other. A veritably Sandwich o'Joy, if you will.

got to hear the new single three times in 24 hours. It still makes my spine tingle - although I can already see me being sick of it by this time next week. Roll on the album I say.

*raises hand*

I even went as far as replacing several of my old vinyl KB LP's recently on CD when i found them in the bargain bucket at my local record shop. Still sounds remarkably fresh and as inovative as when she first pranced around TOTP in her leotard. :p

She's fucking fantastic. 'Unbelievable' is an incredible song. Ok, Red Shoes wasn't quite there, but she's hit heights very few people reach.

Good to see that Kate Bush is finaly releasing a record yet alone an album. Does anyone know when she'll release it? I ws only 6 yrs old when i first heard Wuthering Heights and of course Babushka - she looked ever so senusal in that video! and some of her later stuff e.g. Running Up That Hill.
I even liked her duet with Peter Gabriel "Don't Give Up" :o

Plus that record (i think) it was called cloudbusting which the Utah Saints did a sample of in the early 1990's

Just listened to it and it sounded very "Sensual World" to me. I do think she is one of the best musicians this country has produced over the last forty years and can't wait to hear the album - Hounds of Love was a complete album more than a selection of songs and I hope this is too.

Kate Bush produced "Wuthering Heights" which was like nothing else around at the time (when she was 17?!) and I thought that "Running up that hill" was like nothing else around at the time too. I don't think we'll be lucky three times around but I'm sure it will be worth buying. Would love her to do some work with Zapp Mama!
