Forums are awash with rumours of Terry spitting at Tevez. There are some pictures but they're not conclusive.
 
You know, I'd intended to try and live my life without ever seeing a single second of this match, but I really would be tempted to have a look at this penalty and any subsequent shots of anguish that may be available.

I'm certain he didn't. It looked to me like he was getting a few verbals in after Drogba went as they walked away.

That's the worst penalty since Diana Ross at the World Cup in in 1994. He does a sliding tackle when he takes a penalty. What a fucking twat.

How can you be certain? From the pictures I've seen it definitely looks like he might have spat at him.

And judging by Tevez's reaction, Terry's 'verbals' hit him on the back of the neck!

Penalty shootouts are a crock of shit, it's just the flip of a coin over which player makes the world-famous fuck up and costs their team the gong. If anyone's taking notes it was Anelka who actually cost Chelsea the trophy and Drogba who effectively cost them it by getting sent off with his petulant bullshit.

Fuck the money men, after extra time a cup final should go to a replay.
 
I'd like to see a tie-break: number of sweets in a jar, jar in centre circle but shown on video screen*, a hundred fans from each side invited to make a guess, nearest average wins.

^This. If Terry did demand to be able to take the penalty ahead of players who can actually, you know, take penalties then he's truly a tosspot. Perhaps all the sulking and sobbing was because he knew he'd done something stupid and shafted his teammates in the process.

Funny how no one really mentions Anelka cos Terry really blew it all and is a hateful cunt to the max. I wanted United to lose but John Terry buying the farm is almost as good. Goodbye captaincy of England!

I've changed my mind. Having watched this clip a few times, I think if anyone spat at Tevez it's Drogba:

Watch closely - Drogba does a big sniff, then just as his face is obscured the the ref, Tevez reacts as if something has hit him on the back of the neck.
 
John Terry has broken his silence with an emotional open letter...

To all the Chelsea fans, all my team-mates, the manager and staff at the club.

I am so sorry for missing the penalty and denying you the fans, my team-mates, family and friends the chance to become European champions.

Many people have told me I don't need to say that but I feel I need to, that's just me. I have relived that moment every minute since it happened. I have only slept a few hours and wake up every time hoping it's all been a bad dream.

I have had some amazing support from fans, current and ex-players, family and friends and I need to thank everyone for that. But I am a big man and I take responsibility for us not winning.

I am and ALWAYS will be Chelsea through and through. I will give my all on and off the pitch to win this trophy as a player and one day as a manager. And I am sure we will win it.

That night in Moscow will haunt me forever and I feel I have let everybody down and this hurts me more than anything. I am not ashamed about crying. This is a trophy I have tried so hard year after year to win and it was just an uncontrollable reaction, I wear my heart on my sleeve, everybody knows that.

The road to Rome starts here, we have to try and turn this experience to our advantage. I am very proud of how far we have come this season with everything that has gone on.
