The Joe Cole goal thread

Justin Channing's 40 yard humdinger against the Shit live in glorious technicolour on HTV West in 1992 took some beating :)

We won 4-0...

*Wayne's World style dream sequence wobbly picture as Jittug goes all misty eyed*

No, that was when Wellens beat three, sprayed it to Hills on the left, Tommy Jash overlapped and Hills poked it in front of him measuring the pass to perfection, the roll of the ball meant Tommy didn't even need to break stride. Jash's wandlike foot whipped a cross in and Murphy hung in the hair like a hen harrier and then pounced on the ball, sending it bullet like into the bottom right corner of the goal.

We lost 3-2 though. I still think about that goal when I am going to sleep sometimes. It was magnificent, beautiful and that Argentina goal will never, ever be in the same league.

Or Murphs scored v Brizzle City from twenty five yards and we won 5-1. That was good. :)

Or any of the 3 a certain team knocked past you on your home patch in the 2nd leg of the playoff's back in 96 in your "We're off to Wem-ber-lee" game.:D :D

All I said was that it was a bit speculative and those sorts of goals often get called "great" when they are more lucky than great. I'm not denying the skill to do it. Steve Gerrards two goals so far were better than Coles goal.

I do see what you're saying but I wish I could score lucky goals like that...

It was a great strike, but a bit on the same league as Rebrov's - kick the ball hard, and hope it gets in, with barely any intention. It still is the best looking goal so far, 'to.

However, one could hear the local commentators fapping while talking about it. Comparing to the Maradona goal in 1986 and all.

oh dear...lol...JD...what you going round upsetting people for???

Conspiracy Theory one = Our Chairman did not want the cost redeveloping the ground should Allardyce keep us up (which he undoubtably would have done, given the quality of our squad and his golden touch in the transfer market)

Conspiracy Theory two = Our on-loan goalkeeper (who was not anywhere near as good as No1 Steve banks) was at the heart of a betting fix. We lost 3-0 and were as listless as I have ever seen and Allardyce was wierdly sacked about two weeks later. No-one really knows why.

Theory Three = Fucking typical Blackpool :( :( :(

That's funny, there's similar conspiracy theories about our Devon Loch impersonation over the last ten games of the 1999/2000 season.

We need to compare notes...

lol...i prefer theory three :D

but then..i would :)

oh well...it's all history...as they say...

it's all consigned to our history books...as our greatest victory EVER :D

(cheers for the bargain coaches too ;))

Would you buy a used football club from this man?

You couldn't even if you wanted to, the only way he'll leave is in a box :(

it's changed from a "joe cole wonder goal" thread, to a "who's got the dodgiest chairman" thread :D

most of our fans would say WE win that one, hands down....i don't...

You can say whatever you want about Richmond...he's fair game. City fans have their differing opinions of him! But Beni is highly reguarded as the most skilful player ever to play for us. Very few city fans begrudge him anything!

Doesn't Richmond openly he admit he ruined the club in '9 days of madness' which included buying Carbone didn't it and a few others who I can't recall. I'm sure it's in one of David Conn's books.

Not dissing Carbone as a player at all.

The most, babe...you sure about that??

but yeah, the stuff he done FOR us, completely eclipses the deals that "went wrong"...even though if it wasn't for ondigital money, the bills wouldn't have been payable

he lost the club HE'D built up...because ondigital didn't pay up!!!

Joe Cole's goal was great, but he should have had the decency to admit it was a straight copy of the Rodriguez goal against Denmark in the 2002 tournament. These English players, can't even score original goals, eh, what a bunch of talentless idiots.

Yeah! I think we need a new thread split for these threads! <MOD!!!>

Richmond admits to 2 weeks of madness! Carbone, Petrescu and Collymore are the names usually thrown into the ring! But there were others...not in the 2 weeks!
We gambled our future and lost as is the way! But I'll say to any football fan who looks to the Bradford situation and blames Carbone.....DON'T!!! Nobody here does! He was one of the many pawns. He was a high earing pawn hence his publicity but that was not his fault. He signed a contract..that is all.

sorry but spending ludicrous sums of money and nearly sending the club broke makes the man a cunt

just because ITV digital's lawyers are clever and the League's chairmen were very, very stupid does not excuse it

then that goes for the chairmen of every OTHER club who subsequently went out of business/into admin...

football is a risky business...and there's not a chairman in business today who hasn't taken one...

we were unlucky, and trusted the fact that we'd get the money...if ondigital had followed their end of the deal, we'd have been able to pay what we owed...but they didn't...

we're recovering now...but things are unlikely to EVER be as good as they were under richmond.
