The IT Crowd

No matter if it was true to life or not, it just wasn't funny.

End of.

Whereas Green Wing was one of the most orginal and hilarious things I'd seen for ages, and I just couldn't stop laughing.

FFS, it's not a fucking documentary - did you complain that nobody really talks like Manuel off Fawlty Towers when that was on?

No but then his voice wasn't grating and he didn't wear a daft fucking piece of velcro on his head did he?

i stuck through both episodes and it got more bearable (note: no use of the words funny or enjoyable) but it also became more and more apparent what was draggin it down:
Canned laughter
Roys character - and the actor who payed him
Over used slapstic jokes such a 'only fools' falling through bar type gag
Jens voiced when she shouted and unconvincing acting

:(

What with all the nay-sayers; I thought it might be pants.

Actually, I enjoyed it. Elements of Fr Ted & Black Books there... will keep watching.

Chris Morris reminded me of CJ in Reggie Perrin... bizarre.

And also enjoyed the trailers for Green Wing. Can't wait.

thats the most frustrating part though, any good bits there were were just pinched from the excellent BB or father Ted.

It was a bit shit wasn't it. Maybe they shouldn't have overplayed all the best bits in the ads. Although they might have struggled for more material then I suppose.

... and Green Wing ... original? It's a cheap Scrubs knock off innit. :p

I thought ep4 was very good, and worth sitting through the tedium of 1-3. Mostly due to the appearance of the mighty boosh guy and 'cradle of filth' sub-plot.

If you have aspergers syndrome, the moss character is littered with very obvious in-jokes.

For those who don't like it - you will be pleased to know the general populace agrees with only 1.7 million tuning in (which is poor for C4 on a Friday night)

I saw one episode and thought it was awful. It was like a late night ITV Nighttime comedy but in primetime. What has happened to Channel 4 on Friday nights? They use to rule Fridays!

After four episodes, I've decided it's no more than alright. There's always a few decent lines and the performances are good. It isn't a patch on Linehan's previous work though.

i think it's lame.

but i have to say their office/messhole is almost exactly the same as our company's IT lot's revolting office. :D

It is a bit shit but I'll catch it if I'm around just for Chris Morris' bits. "Get out of my way you goblin!"

Noel Fielding was a nice surprise last week too. Made the show almost watchable.

god knows, i've tried. but it's just weak weak shit.
it is I agree

but there are bits that I recognise from my days in IT (like foo says, the way their office is too)

its another show I think could be great, but it just missed the mark somewhat

still watch it though  :D

I've watched three episodes and I think it has potential, although a bit unresolved so far... I did giggle a couple of times... It's growing on me. :)

(3rd episode was quite watchable)

I think that this is a bit like the nathan barley stuff on channel 4. I watched NB and I didnt find it funny at all and thought it was complete wank. My mate who is in marketing/ad/pr sector etc thought it was hilarious. He said that TBH some of it you had to really be in the sector to get the full extent of what they were taking the fun out of.

Watching the IT crowd I know what he was on about as I PMSLOL all the way through as I work with those people now !!!!

In fact Fizz met one of them the other day called Howie shopping in town, He writes manuals, on each individual system that clients implement. This bloke talks eats and sleeps in ABAP coding binary and netweaver.

He has curly-ish hair and several pairs of glasses and a scoobey doo mug. . . . You can tell what one he is !! :D

So yeah I find it funny as fuck and brilliant

I've worked in IT offices for years, incidentally of teams of 3/4. It is never like that. Fucking stupid trashy TV.

I've been a priest for years, and it was never like Father Ted either.
Do some proper research, Linehan!

But there are a LOT of priests that are like those in Father Ted, having gone to a Catholic school!

There was one who was the spit of Jack.

<Splutter!> Well...well...I used to work in a bookshop as well, and I can tell you, that was nothing like in Black Books, either!

Are you trying to be sarky? :p

Eh?
I was a policeman, too, and I can tell you, the actual police force was a lot funnier than that Thin Blue Line bollocks.
