Thank you kilt for this one. Looks really great.

And maybe it WON'T piss down this year but we could have a drought.

The oak tree is not only out well before the ash this year but it is out well early in teh year. It's not usually out in these parts until early to mid June.

The ash before the oak, prepare for heavy soak.

The oak before the ash you'll only get a splash.

That came down from my grandfather: forecaster credentials: crofter and cattle drover in Skye (drove cattle, on foot, from Armadale to Lanark market); gamekeeper on Rhum Eigg and Muck: retired from being shepherd on Ben nevis.

I never knew Pappa MacGillivary to be wrong with his weather forecasts even when contesting the Met.

Is that the "Tartan Festival"? Heard it's fantastic. Friends are going?

You might well be thinking of the Belladrum/Tartan Heart Festival instead (Tartan Heart name was only for the first year but it seems to have stuck). Which is held near Beauly. It is quite good, but not fantastic IMO.

Here are some pics I took last year:

I'm unlikley to be going this year, partly because of family commitments & also because the line-up is not exactly compelling to me & otherwise, it is not one I'd just go to chill-out at. :)

Hope the weather in the south of teh island is better than here this evening.

It is windy, showery and distinctly chilly here.

Of course I now wish I was there

driving me mad knowing there is a festy within 50 miles and me not there

oh well - roll on Glasto (and god knows what the weather will be like ) :D

Only just seen this thread! :o

Yes it was a great festival... cheap, friendly, small & compact... & in such a beautiful setting too. I feel all nostalgic thinking about it.

Thanks icequeenali to you & your mates for making us feel so welcome. You're all diamonds & hopefully one day we'll be able to return the favour! :) xx
