The "I saw/met someone famous" thread

mystery jets
the horrors (pre fame, naturally).
raging speedhorn (who they? exactly)

other randoms:

johnny and various others from razorlight
devin townsend
kt tunstall
metallica (not lars tho)

and i interviewed karma to burn, who aren't famous but are my idols...

I did my Italian course with Vicky from Eastenders sat next to me last week :D

Also spotted him on the left from Spooks in Covent Garden on thursday

I played with Maximo Park at the Cavern a few years back - they supported us in fact.

Met Goldie of course. And lots of crap ones like Dean Gaffney and that Blue Peter bloke who got sacked, and some other rubbish ones I wont even embarass myself by mentioning - in fact I think they go on web forums bragging that they've met me

Quite a few over the years out and about in town.... though wierdly have met f*cking loads of D listers in the past few weeks the majority at different events and ranging from a load of Holloaks bods.... to Rich from 5....to Bjorn Borg to my fav Ryan Giggs....the others chatted away with no probs but with Giggsy was genuinely star struck and could mumble a hello:)

When I was 12 I went to a celeb charity football match thing and met:
Goldie
Jamie Theakston (threw an orange peel at me)
Robbie Williams (told me to fuck off)
Gavin Rossdale (told him his hair was shit)
Gwen Stefani (my hero at the time, we chatted for half an hour  )
Beppe from Eastenders :D

I have also met Roni Size, Sally Phillips, Melanie Blatt from All Saints (knew her sister), Roger Taylor (knew his daughter, stayed at his house), Betty Jackson (knew her son). That's what happens when you go to posh school.

I met Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall a few weeks ago.

dunno his name or owt but last time i was in new york i met this dude who plays saxophone for some other dude that won american idol or something. does that count? i only met him cos my cousin was selling him an eighth (for $100! in central manhattan!!! ha!)

I'm the type that would have to be told if someone I met was famous. It's like wanted posters. Best I can tell I see them every day.

does this count?

I was at Wembley Stadium in 1998 and - lo and behold! - I spied David Beckham running around on the pitch. :p

I've had a rather physical confrontation with Liam Gallagher, I expect I'm not unique in that respect.

The only celebrity memory I cherish was talking to Tom Baker in Gt Portland St one day. I think I babbled.

My ex ran a club in Camden in Britpop days so I've met (and got drunk with) quite a few famous people like Catatonia, Elastica, Menswear, Suede, Blur, Morrissey, the Bluetones, JJ Burnel and Pete Shelley. I've also talked to Madonna and Sandra Bernhardt at a club I used to work at in LA. I'm friends with someone who is on the telly a lot and have slept with a quite famous English actor (I didn't know who he was at the time though :o). And I met Melvyn Bragg at a wedding :D

Used to run a venue when I was at Kingston Poly, so met (and made butties for) a load of peeps there, including the Smiths, Southern Death Cult, John Peel, The Pogues, Selector, Wedding Present, Specials, New Model Army, and many more (and, er, Strawberry Switchblade :D)

You must have been at Kingston at about the same time as me? (~1984-5ish)

Famous people what i have met include:

Walking through Central Park in New York a couple of years back and we stumble across a shoot for CSI or something similar. Sitting in one of those directors chairs is Ice Motherfucking T!!! We got piccies of me and g/f sitting with Mr T.

Down in Brighton for something involving music and drinking. Nick off for a piss and whilst relieving myself, I glance to my right and it's only one of my boyhood idol's, Kirk Brandon, stood next to me having a Jimmy. Thought it best not to try and strike up convo at this point....

At Notting Hill Carnival years ago, just wandering and watching, when this bloke pushing a pushchair cuts across my path and then stands there looking a bit lost. I look once, I look again and I can't believe how small he looks in real life. It's Joe blinking Strummer stood right there, in the flesh. Broke out in a sweat, wanted to speak but couldn't find the words, and then he was gone into the crowds. Made my day :)

I can't because he is in a relationship (which I didn't know at the time) so it would be mean. I'll tell you next time I see you :p

Isn't your foal's Father an actor??

*starts rumor* (joke) :D

Actually, on a related note, do people find that as they get older, they bump into more and more famous people, and realise that they lead quite mundane lives away from what you see in the media?

I've met quite a few through work but I guess the number one is ex-Wimbledon champ PAT CASH who just turned up at a Bad Wizard gig I was promoting. He likes his noise and was apparently in a band with John McEnroe at one time.

ive got a load of photos from when i was about 10, got to meet the entire man united squad and had a personal tour around old trafford, my uncle sorted it out, he was a ref :D

pictures of me on eric cantonas knee looking shit scared.

im a blue but hey, it was cool anyway :)

my best starstruck moment though was standing right next to johnny marr at a new order concert at the back of the stage. i just turned to him and said "that was fucking mint wasnt it" after they played a particularly mind blowing version of shadowplay. cool as fuck.

i met morrissey too at a gig, but me and my mate were particularly pissed so i just said "morrissey!" and my mate went "alright morrissey!". he raised an eyebrow and walked off. bit of a wanker.

i jammed with willy mason at glasto this year :D

im such a fanboy.

ooh and i met vinny reilly in the 'vip' (just the upstairs bar) bit at the hard rock cafe when monaco played a few months ago.

e2a: oh and i met pete doherty in the bar at leeds festival in 05. really nice chap. another fanboy moment.

I work for a small place selling/installing recording studio and all the shit that goes with it, so i meet loads of folk. I guess my personal fav;s was meeting John Paul Jones (cos he is a been massive influence on me  ). others are Pete townshend, dave gilmor, the Hard fi lads....

paul weller kissed me three times on the head. i then passed out. cos i was so pissed like.

noel gallagher gave me his number.
