I think that's right, but it's a film that's really all about the basic concept. The characters are incredibly basic - the Japanese guy has the only surprises in him and that's just a bit out of the blue as you can't get that from his behaviour previous to it i.e. "shouting angrily in Japanese". I was IMing a friend at the time and said to her I was watching this and she might find it funny too - she kept saying "but why is this guy _doing_ all this stuff?"
