quarters. barring an unlikely run, they are not really final materiel, but I think the lack of expectaion will do them no disservice - Hogeson has previous in the WC and Ithink they will do Ok

is a Germany Ingerland finals possible ?

I said quarters, but then I hear this World Cup doesn't have tries or lineouts or anything so what would I know? :D

(Apart from that Gerrard is a cunt :hmm: )

I don't fancy them getting anything out of Italy or Uruguay, meaning they'll be disillusioned by their "easy" game against Costa Rica and probably only exert themselves enough to squeeze out a draw.

"Results colour everything" oh my god, I laughed so hard I farted. What a cunt. Yeah, the number of goals in a match really distract from what's important.

For the record though, Football is a bunch of cunts anyway. Money money money, that's all it is.

Completely different to the high minded amateur ideals of modern rugby union then?

The average wage in the football Premiership is 25-30k per WEEK. Compare that with the single most expensive rugby player on the planet, Jonny Wilkinson, who was earning 55k per month.

There's no comparison. The amount of money sloshing around football is obscene. So no, there's no high-minded amateurism, but there's a lot less useless cunts being paid a fortune

Then again, if rugby were a more likeable sport the big money would be there. There it is, can't help that

Criticising footballers for getting paid loads pretty much amounts to criticising it for being popular. A lot more people are prepared to pay more money to watch football at the grounds or on telly. QED.

Not sure what it has to do with England's world cup performance aside from the usual tedious rugby fan digs at football. Heard them all before mate

What's wrong with that? He's said that they worked hard to prepare but still failed and the results speak for themselves. Fair enough.
That's pretty much what I thought - and I wasn't expecting much so I'm not surprised at the relative failure of a first round exit. The football was way better to watch than four years ago
