I was at Twickenham today.
When the Haka was performed, 80,000 completely drowned out the proceedings with a loud and deeply moving chorus of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. I imagine the specially placed ground mikes enabled the TV audience to get a perfectly clear rendition of that Kiwi tomfoolery with a spot of distant singing in the far background. In the ground, the Haka was inaudible.
Oh, and I saw Peter O'Toole about 6 seats from me.
