There's a difference between an influence and plain ripping off.

Dummy.

Fuck off, none of the bands you listed sound exactly like, or have copied exactly the bands you say they ripped off. There are laws.

Well... bands that rip off other bands exactly already have a name - thats "covers bands."

I'm happy to admit that some of the bands I've listed might be there wrong - but the fact of the matter is - there are loads of bands that consist entirely in ripping off other bands that came before them. Like. Fact.

Deal with already.

Oh no! He said "baby"!

Your brillant powers of wit and observation have mortally wounded me.. etc.

For fucksakes urban - you really need to start rasing your game... Is this the best that you can do?

Ok people. We all know that there are loads of bands that rip-off other, (mostly) better bands that came before them.

So. I thought it might be a good idea to compose a small database of which bands rip-off which other bands - so that instead of people paying attention to the rip-off merchants they can go and listen to the bands that started things off.

The only thing to keep in mind is that there is a difference between ripping off and being influnced by. It may be blurry and hard to tell - but you know - they're not the same thing.

All contributions welcome.

you meant -

Yeah yeah Yeahs
= Boredom

(give me Eye's glorious band over that pile of new york fashion rock shit with their ugly pig singer any day!!

Dubversion:
kaiser Chiefs = XTC !! hadn't thought of that (cos ui had thankfully blanked xtc out of my mind for past qtr century) but you are totally right!! and, fuck i hated xtc just as much back then as i fuckin hate the kaiser chiefs now.

and though they're not exactly my fave band i'd have to take issue with 'clash = babyshambles' the clash had tunes. more accurate would be 'babyshambles - merton parkas/leighton buzzards studio demos that didnt even make it on as b-sides'

Niofx = misfits???? ummm really?

How you figure that one chief?
