The Guide To Bands That Rip-Off Other Bands

The Specials - yes, a bit. Oasis - WTF? Try The Clash.

Also - Dead 60s = Clash and Specials.

Earlier Ordinary Boys songs were more Jam-ish than Madness-ish.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the most obvious of recent years

The Darkness
> Queen
> AC/DC

But it's not "ripping off" if you're adding something new. Everything's just gonna be a slightly different version of everything else.

Thanks for that. Coz then that means that no one ever rips off anyone else which is obviously true.

Jesus. Why do most of you people whine so much of the time?

Bad diet?

You should eat more greens and fresh fruit or something...

i didn't see any whining, mostly just people disagreeing with you (often in an amused if not amusing way).

the thing is, you're just so.... wrong about most of this stuff :D

The pitiful ammount of alternative suggestions has so far been woeful.

(Primal Scream being one of the few exceptions).

If you people think I'm so wrong then why don't you come up with some other answers??

Or is that being too obvious or something?

Antony and the Johnsons
>Nina Simone

This sort of sums up the list. Almost as well as:

Music moves toward genres no matter how much people try and perform/create from a unique place. Artists can be genuine and still draw very strong influences from other sources.

That said, Radiohead do have a lot to answer for bringing the era of whinge-rock with the likes of Coldplay, Travis, etc.

I've got both those albums and i don't see the resemblance - much less how one ripped off the other one.

But. Like. Whatever.

To be fair, most of yours had very little resemblence.

But. Like. Whatever.

Shit.

Maybe that means something.

Maybe - like - you know - things are all - kinda - whatever - i dunno - subjective?

I dunno.

Just a thought.

At least Flashman bothered to suggest something. Which is more than I can say for most of you.

Innit.

I hate to post in this thread but when I first heard the artic monkeys the other day I couldn't help but think "cheap white stripes rip-off with sheffield accents" It isn't really true though, the white stripes just also have a guitar and drums and sing and are much better. At the end of the day influences aren't the same as blatent rip-offs.

Muse are what Radiohead would've sounded like had they formed a Queen Tribute Band.

I like Muse.

And I don't really think that they've properly ripped off anybody.

Origins of Symmetry is a fucking class album. Man.

i don't DISLIKE Muse - i think Plug In Baby is a great single - but they're about the most derivative band that's not Oasis that i can think of.

Not so much in sound as in how they're structured, all with the same name. It's more of a knowing tribute and I like them.
The Donnas
> The Ramones

Along a similar trajectory with the name;
Les Rythmes Digitales
> Daft Punk
