Yeah it's not as-if I hated the original cut, first time I watched it I had no idea about director's cuts/no voice-overs and shit.

It was what it was and I liked it.

I think of all the Sci-Fi films I've ever seen at the pictures, Startship Troopers must be up there as one of the most enjoyable.

Didn't know anything about it, and caught it at the South Bank a few months before release. Totally blew me away.

"This is an ugly planet, this is a bug planet"

the way I heard it the v/o was cut because they had to rope Harrison in after the shooting and he was pissed off about it so delivered the lines in an off-hand and weary manner.

Which happens to work perfectly:cool:

except it doesnt. I would have agreed with you up until recently, when I actually heard it again, and Ford is so obviously bored and not giving a toss, he does the voiceover very badly, not just bored, but stressing the wrong words n shit

2001 every time! It looked like the future to me when I first saw it in the Eighties so when it came out it must have been mindblowing! I remember being fascinated/enthralled by the bit when the waitress walks upside down in the spaceship when I was about eight!

I enjoyed The Island; not the greatest film - not even great - but a good film, especially by Michael Bay standards.

I enjoyed Abre Los Ojos too.

oh yes. 'Death to the Demoness Alegra Geller!'

It's a proper sci fi. Questions the nature of reality and points at the subjectivity of experience. Or something.

Yes yes - that is a great sci -fi film. I never ever ask for the special in resturants since I saw it.

It's also retreading the themes of Videodrome. And is a bit shit.
