Because, a truly good folk song should be 'Great'. I don't recall a previous U75 incarnation, but if Pogofish needs to know: The World never stops moving, so why should Urban :)

My vote goes with 'Dirty Old Town' for many reasons (nice story behind the song for a start), but mostly because, it is a truly Great song.

Not strictly folk in the Childe Ballad sense of the word, but brilliant all the same:

E2A: Stanley Edwards it's Joni M's A Case of You.

Can we have old fashioned, hand typed titles with the embedded media please. Just for old fashioned folk like myself using old fashioned facilities and utilities. Thanks :)

    Kaka Tim Crush the Saboteurs!

this is an very old english folk song which has many different versions (johnny cash's is probably the most famous) but this is my fave. Why the pogues never did it is a bit of a mystery.

I think Tovey's version might be part based on a music hall version of the song that peter sellers did - but there is no recording of it i can find online.
Special place in my heart this cos it was always a sure fire winner when busking.

I'd probably go with The Last Man in the Factory by Megson but it's not on YouTube but I found another good song by them called Generation Rent.
