The great Chumbawamba appreciation thread

They're playing Beverley Folk Festival this year. I'm sorely tempted to go. Longdoggy and I used to be regulars at the festival, but I've not been for six years now...

I wouldn't get all dewy eyed about the "great Chunbawamba". I was in a band who were on the same bill as this lot doing a benefit for the miners (I was involved in organising the event), along with The Three Johns. They were acting like prima donnas even back then, demanding that they go on at a certain spot - denied by me. :D Their "fans" that night were a right pain in the arse too, giving us grief. I indicated that they stfu and they obliged. They got paid, we didn't accept any money.

Don't think anyone's posted it yet but later this month in Leeds City Varieties:
The Big Society Musical (with Red Ladder and Phil Jupitus)

Turns out we gave a spare CD of The Boy Bands Have Won. If anyone wants it then PM and I will post next week or you can grab in Brixton near the Hoot.

Interesting irony here when thinking about an early wamba's leaflet:
EMI, thirty years of the same old shit.
Ideas? Some muddled nonsense about 'back to the land' and sprayed graffiti on a bridge: "Neither Work, Nor Leisure". Most who felt the urge to look up and see it to read would most likely think, what's that about then?

Enduring memory? Band members sat at tables at a corporate Heineken festival, signing merchandise, including t-shirts, with the anarchist symbol printed on.

Enjoy the leisure and spending the loot.

See ya. :)

"Going for 30 years and famous for just one song? hardly hitting the big time." I do enjoy the inane fucks on Digital Spy.
