i think its safe to guess leona lewis's album is not as good as Back to Black. I'd bet that Amy is a one off and i think shes better at what she does than any female singer in years and years.
i would listen to leona lewis's album as she is talented though. She doesnt write her own songs does she? the songs are picked by simon cowell arent they? oh dear...i think the song 'Bleeding Heart' is pretty rubbish but her voice is amazing.

For me the catchiest pop tune of the year was Beyonce's SIngle Ladies 'Put a Ring On It'.
stuck in my head for weeks, and at least a couple of times a week I have to hear it to sratch the itch.
The vocal melody is pretty bizarre by pop standards, and the harmonys are subtle but complicated - (i guess thats true for quite a few beyonce tunes)
the ryhtmn track is US R&B meets ragga - (check the one snare hit), with some great little sound effect hits. That hand clapping thing really works great on a system. Check ths instrumental here:
plus some great little details, on one of the o-o-ohs near the end, the last oh stops like when you hit stop on a record player...there are quite a few rewound kick durms...and so on.
When this pop R&B stuff is good, its really good - the best thing to come out of the US at the moment, no? This is the real sound of the US right now... sad really - is there any underground music in the US that they've come up with on their own (I know dubstep is bubbling along)?
...There was a flurry of hand clapping-rythmn tracks a couple of years ago - can anyone remember any? My minds gone blank
it was all on the diwali rhythm iirc - get busy, uh-oh, no letting go? there was about 5 different songs in the charts at the same time with the same backing.

Thats the one - certainly that Wayne Wonder cut crossed over in a big way. I think there were some other rythmns that followed and tried to cash in on the mini handclapping trend
