a long way from the best - i've done about 14 or so - but i'll be there next year because

a) i always go

b) the thought of it going on without me makes me feel slightly anxious

c) PROD's already been asked back

and

d) i'll have better boots :)

been in previous years, will go again.. but next time I'm gonna do it properly.. will be earning a proper wage soon, so can afford to eat and stuff.. I'm gonna be constantly pissed next year.. bored of drugs, being pissed is where it's at. gonna buy a big fucking tent, and a foldable chair, and going to take at least 3 crates of beer, and 2 crates of red bull with me... and a trolley to carry it in with. and going to bring a football. and a wind-up phone charger. and a decent stereo for the camping area. I'm gonna eat like a king, at least 3 different types of food a day, and give the hare krishnas a tenner for helping me out when I've been skint and hungry in the past.

and I'll take it all home with me again ;)

I'd like to go again nxt year.. but lets face it - if the ticket lottery system comes in, you have about a 1 in 10 chance of being chosen

Maybe it's fairer that way too (shrug)

What struck me, looking at a map of the festival, was the size of the 'private areas'. When I used to go (1984-89) you could wander around pretty much anywhere you liked, unless you were a copper.

ain't that the truth. The colonisation of public space into private space carries on year after year, partially as a response to tent thefts in past years, partially due to the rise in the desirability of 'hospitality' passes, partially (as with the stage road this year) it's down to health & safety. I preferred it when everybody was mixed in, but then there's a lot I preferred back in the day.

I'll be there next year, anyway. :D

not walking around site much this (or indeed walking much) it wasnt until about 4am monday that i realised something very odd had happened to the stage road- did they really section off 5m of it and say you had to walk 1/2mile round?? why??

I think to try to alleviate the crush of the crowds leaving both the Pyramid and Dance after the last band, just at the moment when the Knighted one wanted to leave, with his coachload of 72 suits and 60 pairs of shoes. It seemed to work, in the sense that it created an alien wasteland for Big Boys to park their huge toys in with nary a human in sight.

Talking of which, I didn't have my camera when they were all out willy waving at the meeting point on Saturday afternoon. Huge trucks, tankers, diggers, forklifts, tractors and so on all parked up while the drivers lounged around comparing axle weights and tyre treads. Thankfully Malibar and the praying mantis cleared them all away.

Never been don't want to. No problem with it bar the lack of toilets and hygene, rather than go there and whinge about it I watch the coverage on the telly instead and then listen to the stories chums have about it. They seem to adore it, and why not?

It's the same old story, but...

It would be a lot better without the pyramid headliners

So many people were there just to see Oasis and McCartney - I caught the first few songs of both sets and have to say they were some of the crappest vibes I've ever felt at Glasters.

The things that saved the day for me this year were GA, Orbital, and numerous DJs in various tents.

While I've got my moan head on... you couldn't get into the Glade 'cos there were too many people wanting to get some excitement away from the mundane drones of the aforementioned, and is it just me, or are the Green fields rammed to bursting these days.

</grumpy old man mode>

This was my 9th Glasto and the jury's out for next year, the main reason being that we are losing one of the very core members of our crew ( off to his native land) & he has been part of the very heart & soul of our Glasto's for so long. This year was a last big party for us to see him on his way and it really feels like the end of an era right now & the way we're all feeling, we might just skip it and do something new next year (Sonar pehaps).
But Glasto's will always be a part of me & I'll go again sometime, I know that much for sure.

Be warned Pie 1 -- there will be a Glasto in 2005 but almost certainly not in 2006 (due a year off then).

Fancy waiting til 2007?

Thought not! :p (especially with there being no certainty of there being a Glasto in 2007 either ... )

See above -- save the Spanish plan til 2006 ...

G2007 may be the start of the 4th quarter ;)

as it is i'm feeling the same as those above me - i'm really glad that i booked a ticket for Larmer Treeand Womad :) i think i need to do something else to re-kindly my feelings for glasto. would like to do somemore festivals too but i spose i can wait till next year. shame i cant go to the Big chill as i like the sound of that.
