The Frightening Willingness to Follow Orders

Is that 'urine' sample for drugs testing? What kind of jobs would require that...apart from footballers, athletes, drivers and pilots etc....?

All members of HM Armed Forces are required to give a urine sample on request - Complusory Drugs Testing.

Ahem...well yes that would make sense I was asking about the more everyday jobs that might be doing this now...For example...i am a teacher and am not as yet required to do so....although it could happen, and given the state of some of my colleagues on a Monday morning it might be quite an eye opening exercise. ;)

CDT for teachers wouldn't surprise me that much - danger to kids would be the excuse I suppose. Would you agree with it happening or not?

Drugs testing of teachers may be somewhat closer than you think. Especially with random drugs testing of schoolchildren and police sniffer dogs in schools becoming more prevalent.

I was in this instance not attempting to be jovial. Obeying authority without question just is not a British characteristic. (Even less so now than even a few years ago)

So where did the word 'queue' come from?

Ad in the New Scientist recently for a Quality Assurance job with Budweiser that required drug testing.

"Please note that all successful candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment drug test. Drug testing is a continuing process and random testing is a condition of employment with Budweiser Stag Brewing Co."

What does queuing have to do with authority?
There aren't queue police/guards over here you know, people do it out of a sense of fairness or following the crowd maybe, but that's not the same thing.
IMO
:p

Forming an orderly queue has nothing to do with obeying orders, it prevents violent attack by the other people in the queue. :D

Yes, they queue automatically, without being told.

Usually sodomy can involve foreign objects as well--fingers, pens, etc.

.

Just to clear up the issue: the sodomy they're referring to is the forced oral sex the guy (manager's boyfriend) made the girl perform on him. (Sodomy just means anything other than penis/vagina intercourse).
And I think that guy should get a harsher sentence than the phone caller. I mean come on, he had to know that there was no way a real cop would need him to get a blow job from a scared 18 year old girl.

In the states nearly every job requires it, store clerks, secretaries, dock workers, insurance agents....

The government passed a law that said that they wouldn't grant a government contract to any company that didn't have an anti-drug policy. Most companies comply with that by requiring drug testing.

So far I've managed to escape. My company drug tests new employees, but leaves the older ones alone. I told my boss that he'd have to fire me before I'd submit to it (that was before nearly every place of employment tested). I'd be fucked now.

The story I saw on tv was vague about the actual act. I hadn't realized that it was a blowjob. At that point, yes, he's acting on his own.

She must have had some shocking financial advice to let her royalties fritter away and end up in McDonalds.

I know. :o

Not only that there was at least one company who was screening DNA samples to cut their healthcare costs.

This is what happens when you give up that first urine sample.

This sort of horrific example probably goes a long way to explain Abu Ghraib. Rumsfeld et al were a bit like the bloke on the phone ushering orders to those below him.
