I'm surprised to hear that Defoe's been forgiven. I've been to quite a few West Ham games in recent seasons, and there's nearly always a big rendition of "Jermain Defoe is a cnut".

there was talk of him coming back in the summer and the forums were split 50/50, pretty much. Dave is obviously bigger-hearted than a lot of our fans.

of course he hasn't.

there have been certain strands of revisionism (he was only young, it was his agent, all a misunderstanding) but they quickly get shouted down.

To be fair to him though, he has never slagged the club off as far as I know.

I don't think it's really hatred... he'd probably win people over if he signed again and scored a few but he'd have a rough time to start with, I reckon.
