The First Film You Remember Seeing At The Cinema

'e.t. - the extra terrestrial', 1982. i had no conception of what a cinema was, i just remember being in my jimjams, and then being in a big, dark room with my parents and a whole bunch of people i didn't know, watching a story unfold in huge, moving pictures. mindblowing, really.

ditto

and I had a girl sitting in front bawling her eyes out "is he dead, is he dead" :D

the earliest film i can remember seeing at the cinema was pinocchio, which IIRC has a bit where a bad kid changes into a donkey and i was so terrified i had to pretend i was going to the toilet and hid shaking in the corridor for ages. i dunno how old i was, somewhere between 4 and 7 i guess.

1st animated film was dumbo. That bit with the pink elephants was well freaky on the big screen,tv just doesn't do it justice at all.

1st live action flick would have been Cat from out of space or Digby the biggest dog in the world.

can't remember the title it was some fairy tale adaptation. . . what I remember is an evil giant armed with an axe,

frightened the living daylights out of me.

Somewhere in Croydon, double bill with 'Nikki The Wild Dog Of The North' and, although this can't be right, 'Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid'. 1974 or so, so I would have been 6.

i wouldn't know the name of the film. i think i was about 2 or 3. didn't remember how i was brought to the cinema neither, but i was sleeping on my parents' laps. i woke up in the middle of the movie and had a peek on what's on that giant screen. i saw women wrestling in the mud! naughty parents.

"Ramsbottom Rides Again", starring Arthur Askey, which I saw at the cinema of the RAF Base, on the Isle of Tiree, when I was seven or eight.

I think it was The spy who loved me. I also think it was with you, Dub and our mums and nan. :p

The Black Hole (1979)

I won a colouring competition in our local newspaper and got free tickets , though it was my uncle who was the judge :o ;) :D

Bambi or Jungle Book (not sure which was first), but I do remember about 200 kids (including me) all crying and wailing after the mother is shot.

If you and shoddysolutions didn't notice, i pointed out on page 2 that you can get new PAL copies of it on ebay for either £7.99 as a starting bid or £11.99 on 'Buy It Now' with only £1.90 P&P :p

Sorry, not allowed to use ebay at work so naturally just ignored it :o :p

Probly Star Wars.

Apparently I stood up when Obi-wan chops the cantina dudes arm off and yelled out 'Mummy! That's tomato ketchup isn't it?'

See, she's told me that any blood I see in a film was tomato ketchup and not real so I wouldn't get scared and stuff...
