The FA Cup Final Thread.....

Tactically, Mourinho got it right. Can't argue with that.

Apparently they're talking about bringing Crespo back to Stamford Bridge. I like Crespo. :)

If they do that and shoot Bilharouz (sp) and get another defender to free up Essien for midfield all the time, then that midfield will be very, very strong.

MU are going to have to start to contemplate how they're going to replace Giggs. He's not passed it yet but he won't last much longer. It could cost them a whole year's budget to replace a player like that.

Maybe we can put a footnote in the history books.

Chelsea 1 - Manchester United 0*

*United made more of an effort to break through that boring bastards Chelsea.

mate the FA Cup is the footnote, unless of course it's part of a double, oh wait your's was, youse won the league cup too.:D

pity he seems to get his understanding of football from roy of the rovers, as if Ronaldo could be expected to singlehandedly unlock Chelseas 8 men behind the ball at all times approach.

So you're a one man team these days?

I'm happy with that. Like I said the other day, I followed them for years without winning a damn thing so it's a pleasure to be competing in all four pretty much right to the wire.

Which was a big win for Utd last season v Wigan I seem to recall. Little teams like them and Millwall seem to be about all Utd can beat in finals recently. Put them v Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea and they choke.

nah fair enough slagging off Fergies defensive approach but Carrick was okay and Ronaldo had fuck all support, he had two men on him everytime and was stuck with no one to pass or cross to. Hopefully with Hargreaves (who I think is far too much of an unknown quantity to be worth 17 million!) we will have a midfielder who will get in the oppositions face, run box to box and give some protection for Carrick to pick out passes.

How the hell is Hargreaves going to give him protection - run around him headless, flicking out his greasy curls to prevent players getting to Carrick. Hargreaves is a ball winner, but no man with that hair can be a midfield enforcer

Carrick is barely average. So what if he can pass a bit - he's slower than the average paraplegic bear and can't tackle, which is a little depressing for an 18m purchase. Worse than that is that he seems to want to play an entirely risk free game, never passing forwards when there's a sideways or backwards pass available.

I know Chelsea fans are meant to be thick but you're a lawyer apparently so i'd expect more.

I was arguing exactly the opposite, that Ronaldo couldn't have been expected to win the game himself, nor can he be expected to do much when he's got 2 men on him everytime, actually that is doing much, it's creating space in the centre for the midfield/wingbacks to move into, except Man Utd didn't play a positive game to make the most of that and Chelsea were determined to shut down the game completely.

nah i was mostly on the politics boards before the big exodus.

i really couldn't imagine many bigging up a league cup win against wigan, infact the only time i've heard it boasted of it's been very ironic.

Unfortunately not. And can't you remember Little Gary Neville's passionate celebration in the Millennium Stadium? So proud.

That was the irony :D

well of course the players are going to celebrate, ffs.

still his celebrations were not even close to his antics when they beat the red shite.

I was looking at it from the perspective that if Ronaldo is closed down, no-one else can do anything. It's reasonable to want to close down arguably the best player in the world on his day.

Anyway, that's it, the season is over and the silverware is shared. Yes, United won the most important one but I look forward to the next installment in the upcoming season.

(No 'apparently' to it, it's true)

eh well no, Rooney worked his balls off too but the simple fact was we didn't go out and attack enough and the other think is (and i loath to admit this) Chelsea are a brutally effecient, organised unit and if they want to close a game down then they'll do a very good job of it.

Didn't bother watch it, as I find this whole Manure/Chelski/Liv/Arse mini-league stuff is boring, and the cricket was on....

..sounds like I made a good choice :D
