The exam results thread

for those of you that can't get to college till lunch or not at all

if yo have your ucas number you can check on their webpge tomorrow :)

good luck everyone :)

Good luck to everyone.

Some advice (please dont take it to be patronising) but if you dont quite get what you want, dont jump at the first offer you see. Make sure any other course is something you would be very interested in.
and if you are thinking of defering, please check before hand whether you will still only have to pay the 1,175 a year fees, not the full fees that are coming in next year.

:)

Five years of exam results "seasons" (from GCSEs till now) has reduced me this year from a state of nervous tension to one of quiet, exhausted resignation. I'm not going to university, haven't applied, simply can't afford it - but some decent A levels under my belt will help me with whatever I end up doing.

:)

I cant get anything out of the UCAS website except for clearing instructions - anyone know the exact url of the signing in page for UCAS tracking?

Nevermind I've found it and its down

Somewhere along the way I've got confused. for the last 6 months or so I was convinced I needed CD to get into Greenwich, but looking for my UCAS application number I've just found my Greenwich offer and it actually says "120 points." I went off to find an online tariff calculator because I'm crap at working out the points from the grades and its just as well I did because I must have royally stuffed up last time, 120 points is DD not CD and with my D in chemistry at AS Level all I need is DE at A level and I'm in to greenwich with interest.

Feeling considerably less pressured now

I wouldn't bother with the UCAS website - it gets hammered and your college will release at the same 'official' time or earlier (if they are kind - my school used to let 'em rip at about quarter to 8 in the morning and I know a lot of other schools are pushing towards 9am or earlier now instead of the official midday release time).

rr - don't want to cause panic - but are you sure your AS grade can count towards the points total? Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't...

Well the UCAs page is finally loading (here its still not linked from the main site) and I don't know what grades I've got but I've gotten into my first choice of university

FOOKING GET IN! :D

Think I might crack open the vodka :D :D :D

(@ the B - My college isn't giving out results until midday)

ideally you should have told your uni you were going to defer at the time of application and not as a last minute decision - but even then, with an 05* ucas number you shouldn't pay the top up fees (the white paper was amended to state this)

excellent work lass :D

Nice one rr

And - aqua - students are counting on you to be giving them your absolute fullest attention :p ;) Hopefully not going to be too stressful a day for you!

Allow me to tell you the results I got through the medium of a picture of batteries

cool:)

sometimes you can check your details for Uni acceptance on the UCAS site and that gives a fair idea of whether you did alright - although the site is probably quite busy at the moment :)

Well I've just had a look on the UCAS site....again, it didn't tell me what grades I got but said my top choice (Sussex) was unsucessful. :(

So I'm panicking now, trying to get onto the clearing site (which is very busy anyway) and not looking forward to going into college and finding out exactly how badly I did.

Shit. I'm not looking forward to this. My parents won't be happy. :(

its not the end of the world if you don't manage a place this year :)

Good luck, don't stress too much and remember to ring places :) The course you applied for may not be successful but they might offer you something else at the same university :)

Like aqua said, make sure you call the university to check they wont change their offer for you. And get yourself a copy of the independent and check your post. I got a leaflet from ucas about clearing and using the paper to sort out clearing instead of the website will mean you dont have to deal with the traffic.

I'm sure it'll work out for you

the issue of whether exams are as rigerous as they used to be

clearly some aspects have become more rigorous :p

Although I agree that the fact people worked hard at their A Levels has no bearing on whether or not they're getting easier. I wouldn't know, I blagged my way into uni without doing any :D

Surely UCAS know by now, having had a few years of widespread use of the internet for their applications, that there'll be a rush on their website on results day and beef up their server accordingly?

At present, it's totally down.
