The Evils of Supermarket Fruit and Veg

I really wish the whole of the UK would stop buying these tomatoes to force them to sell us proper tomatoes. I still remember the fresh tomatoes I was buying when I was in turkey. Man they were good!

Cause we are stupid in the UK and buy shit food rather than turning our noses up at it we are always going to be sold shit food.

People also put tomatoes in the fridge making them even worst. Waitrose does nice veg.

...Waitrose does nice veg.

Waitrose is about the only UK supermarket that does decent fruit and veg. Pity it's so pricey but I guess you get what you pay for....

I think people in this country generally don't give a fuck what they eat as long as it's cheap - I can't think of any other reason why the stores are full of such awful tasteless food. I agree with Marius - nothing will change until people stop buying it.

Yeah, it is depressing. I nearly cried the first time I went to the market in Barcelona and wandered trancelike through aisles of fat, fresh, tasty produce at knock-down prices. No wonder everyone there is so good looking

Supermarket carrots are minging, and ones in greengrocers are not much better. My mum has fresh carrots from their allotment and they are so nice, I just can't bring myself to eat the tasteless shite they sell in Tesco anymore.

I remember when Iceland went all organic and they stopped the scheme because they didn't sell enough.

Funny enough we bought al our xmas party food from Iceland and everyone commented how nice it was. Previously I had always got my stuff from Tesco but their xmas shite gave me terrible indigestion mainly cos of the salt content.

I find Iceland stuff to be very low in sodium content and the chicken seems very good.

I can't live on iceland food though, I need fresh food else I feel ill.

sadly, I find alot of green grocer stuff poorer quality (or no better) than supermarkets, you can good stuff certainly, but there's plenty of crap there, and they are sods for hanging on to stuff that is past its best. Open markets are prolly the best, at least price-wise.

Most of the veg I get is from Sainsburys (the only reasonable food store near our house), and the loose, in-season stuff is perfectly good to be honest.

Had desirees, carrots, swede and sprouts this week, all nice, all reasonable price.
