The England Squad

I think it would be safe to say that milner won't be playing right back at the actual tournament.

And I don't think smalling and Jones will be the centre backs either.

All of which makes me wonder why they were playing today. Surely your first choice back four needs as much playing time together as possible before a tournament.

And if one or more get injured/suspended? For exactly the same reasons, you want your second string to have played together a bit.

Perhaps The Sun wil do cut out and keep prayer mat for worshiping the Oxlade Chamberlin knee and pray for a swift recovery in time for the first game like they did for Beckham and Rooney previously??

Or maybe not.

Should take him anyway, or take the opportunity to include the replacement for Gerrard who should've been in the squad in the first place.

3 warm up games should be 7 from the first 11 and 4 fringe. That way nobody has to play more than 2 matches, everybody gets at least 1 and with substitutions you can give extra more or fewer minutes to anyone you want.

That way for example Luke Shaw could have played some time with a first choice left centre back and a first choice left winger beside and in front of him respectively. You know, like how he'll be used if Baines pings a hammy in the first match. Not alongside Smalling and behind Rooney.

Despite being virtually mute to the media for most of his playing career, Paul Scholes seems to be piping up quite a bit recently. Apparently he's said Danny Welbeck should man-mark Andrea Pirlo next week. I agree that, whilst easier said than done, stopping Pirlo could blunt Italy's options, but is Welbeck the best bet to do it?

I have stopped believing :(
