The Emile Heskey thread

I remember it being said of Heskey that he could 'trap' the ball further than most players could kick it.

Although that's such a good line it's probably used of many a big lump player.

I'd worked it out and done my own research, Chris.

When Saturday Comes: The Half Decent Football Book starts their description of the team as "Leicester have spent much of their unremarkable existence bouncing between the top two divisions - never quite producing a side good enough to win major honours, yet never quite sliding down to the third tier."

Well known players (mainly for other teams) that I can find include Gordon Banks (England), Keith Weller, Frank Worthington, Gary Lineker (England, Everton, Barcelona, Tottenham), Allan Clarke (Leeds), Peter Shilton (Forest, Southampton, England), Alan Smith (Arsenal), Alan Birchenall (half-time raffle man).

;)

This is why I don't like WSC, it can be so sneering and patronising.. that article sounds like a Surrey based Man U supporter wrote it.

The BBC reckon he's going to start. Owen scores more playing with Heskey than anyone else. Very brave of McClaren given his position... I hope for Heskey's sake he silences his critics (Heskey's critics, not McClaren's... he deserves them).

Interesting to see the various levels of prejudice against Super Emile. The Times and the BBC both reported that he put in a solid perfomance that rewarded the decision to play him. He got a 7/10 rating in the Times above most of the team who got 6/10. Gerrard and Owen have both said he was a big asset to the team. Even my mates who loved ripping Heskey all admitted he played really well and deserves to start against Russia.

The News of the World? Basically called him a donkey and ranked him with 6/10 when the rest of the team were 7 or 8. Fucking lame.

To be fair he had a blinder. His hold up play was immense and he was one of the better players on the pitch behind wright-phillips, joe cole & gareth barry.

Still think hes a bit wank but he did very well.

He plays ok when his confidence is up and he can be a handful, personally would not want to defend against the big lump though he has the touch of a telephone box and one on one with the keeper reckon 8 times out of ten he will f it up.....saying that did allright on the weekend ...average

Ummm i hate harewood though. AND harewood has had a grand total of 7 million spent on him(if that), heskey must be pushing 20 by now.

I don't think either should be in the premiership.

zamora however is better then heskey!

dave

In what repect? Playing international football? Playing for a top club? Zamora is as average as Heskey is, but Heskey has more pedigree.

Your avin a laugh.

it's true though!

As a life long Man U fan I have to say Emile was great tonight

:D

Uncle Fester didn't look too happy tho'

Looks like good ol Emile Heskey has put the dagger in Chelsea's title ambtions, by scoring the equaliser and doing a huge favour for Man Yoo keeping the title. I bet Baron Greenback's face i.e. Avram Grant's was a picture after the final whistle!

*Probably the best English born target man that Don Fabio could use for the upcoming world cup campaign.

Didn't even know there was a game tonight then found on on you're on sky sports wigan beat chelsea! Avram Grant is a twat for leaving drogba out, think he left anelka out to?? What a dumb twat.

edit: wait, or was it a draw? still dunno!

Ah yes just checked, 1-1..still shocking though they were talking as though wigan won though they didn't say the exact result..*bashes head against desk for thinking wigan won*
