The Division 2 ('Championship') 07/08 Thread

Well - a happy old start for us so far.

Just seen this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/6949233.stm - is it paranoia or sensible? What's your clubs stance? I've never been to watch us train, but I don't think its closed to fans as there is always a few fans on our messageboards who mention who looked sharp or not in training. Then again, I don't think many people actually go. I wouldn't of thought Norwich were exactly overrun by people whilst training...

well it would be great if Scunthorpe stayed up but really this season should just be fun wahtever happens. mind you we are unbeaten so far!!

Hope you do.

Oh aye, is Neil Mackensie still with you? I never could work out why we got rid of him, cos he was a fair old ball player. Really quite skillful for us.

er i dunno i am a fairly lightweight supporter!
a better start than the season than i could have hoped for... and i could possibly make the Bristol match next weekend, otherwise it'll be next year before i can see them.

nice how Billy Sharp got a good reaction from the crowd. apparently not working as well with Sheffield United, at the moment anyway.

that would be pretty funny!
I am wondering about the stadium. they'll have to do something about it at some point.

when it was built i seem to remember that it was designed so it could be extended thats why the rod mill isnt a canteliever (sp???)
plenty of room to expand though i presume it just comes down to cash but IF scunny stay up they will, i agree 100%, have to do something otherwise they are just throwing money away esp the away end

i heard on some bulletin board that at the Sheffiled match there was a bit of trouble with away supporters, cos basically the ground isn't organised or policed well enough for big crowds... so some sheffield supporters got in to the Scunthorpe bit... people seemed to think there was an accident waiting to happen in the future. there was also vague rumour of building a totally new stadium.
er but yeah it is early days in the season yet!!

big crowds :D :D

didnt hear anything about the crowd trouble

the ground was built for 4th division football and where the away end is, if away suppts come by coach no probs but by car or train (or even bus from sheffield) there is no way i can see of segregating it

maybe a new train station just behind the away end, i think im onto something here ;)

Alex Russell, good signing for us?
Aggy will always do a great job at league 1 level and I fully expect to see him feature for City in the championship, though he's a little bit down the pecking order now. Last season he tended to be deployed (successfully) in a more defensive midfield role but he's also very creative, can pick out some great passes and takes a decent free kick.

Good luck

So the mighty are 12th. 12th. Can you understand? 12th. That'll be 12th then... :):):):)

I'm also guessing as no-one touched this thread that the championship is the point where people stop talking to each other about their clubs and simply want a 'Grantham town 07/08' thread to natter on. Sad innit really.

All those threads are anti social if you ask me.

Well done Pool, good first season back :)

Cheers mate - I can't believe how good we've been. We have been outplayed twice by ipswich and charlton away and that's pretty much it - every game we've fought and could have won and if you look at the stats we've actually had most shots on goal in the entire division. Larry is a fucking god. Mcphee is another amazing signing, another playr bought in without ceromony or fanfare that just slots in.

You've got Larry, we have Trolls. They're better than any of them idiots in the prem

Course they are and the joy is that the (largely) idiots that follow the premier league would probably have a tantrum if their team took our managers from us (cos the aren't 'champions league material') so they'll never dare :D
