the cutting off of dreads and the growing of hair

Erm.. don't you need a few inches of hair to put extensions in? Dunno how short your hair will be after you've cut your dreads off..

Yeah, I reckon a few months of growth, June & July might add enough length to allow extensions to be put in :) the wedding is in September...

This thread has prompted me to look at woolen hair extensions.. there's no way I can grow my hair long enough to have extensions put in, but I've emailed a few people about wigs instead.. :)

So sorry to hear that they are coming off....but you have a few months and you will look beautiful. All the folk that I know that have cut out dreads have looked stunning (as they did before).....but there are some funky short haircuts aroud to play with....:)

thanks :)

I'm feeling a lot calmer about it today than I did yesterday... I'm actually quite keen to get them off now! Although, I think that waiting until after Glastonbury will be prudent :D

Nightmare. I cut mine off after 9 years and immediately hated having short hair. Started growing them again within a month, still going 11 years on from that.
Chase them crazy baldhead.

Forgot to say - DON'T DO IT!
Seconded
Your hair is
It's got to be worth trying to comb out enough to get a hairstyle out of.
I've managed to undread some inadvertently-acquired locks before, not easy, but better than losing all the hair.

I don't reckon bleaching it'll thicken it  I've got naturally thick hair but years of bleaching has destroyed it and left it right thin and brittle.

I reckon cut a load off the back and ruffle that all short n spiky, it won't look too thin if you scuffle it up, and leave a few at the front...it'll be okay for the photies then (your family are cool with dreads but not short hair? WTF?:D ). Or do you have to get rid of them all?

have you got teh nits?

Moot by now but I only meant as a short term fix. My hair was fluffier when bleached but that's probably due to the frying. :)

might be a stupid suggestioin but if you have quite tight dreads it is possible to sorto of disguise them. your dreads are pulled back tightly and twistet in a bun at the nape of the neck. a weave, or 2 are sewn in to the roots of the hair, providing enough hair to pull back to cover the dreads. more undreaded hair is then wrapped round the bun to hide. attention can be taken away from the bun with a fascinator on one side of the head :D

i had to hide bright pink dreads with this method once, so i know it works on afro hair, dunno about european hair though
