watched the first 45 minutes last night. the old womans story about the boy who died in WW1 & the clock his father made was nicely done. But then you realise that the point of that is to go 'this is what the films really about', just to make sure everyone knows from the off.

and then we get the story proper. and it was shit. dully, told, rambling, deeply patronising and missing all the points that could have made it interesting. and then i realised that there were still two fucking hours to go, and off it went.
