Strike is great. Al Pacino as Arthur Scargill and Meryl Streep as Joan Ruddock(?). It;s been a long time since I've seen it so it may be Glennys Kinnock that Meryl was doing.

Mr Jolly Lives Next Door

the best three are Mr Jolly (dir by Stephen Frears!), Didn't YOu Kill My Brother and The Yob..

Jolly reappeared last night on More4, hadn't seen this for 20yrs still as funny as when it first came out, it's a pity they went on to do all that bottom brothers rubbish. It's slightly surreal that withnail & i was being made at the same time as some of the pub dialogue seems almost the same.

It's amazing how it predates 'league of gentlemen' in darkly comic characters and creating a surreal parallel world. Latching onto the cult of celebrity also seems prophetic. Peter Cook appears as an aging teddy boy serial killer, class.
