The Clash: Sandinista

It isn't; it's a sprawling, overblown, self-indulgent mess.

There's a good single album in there, for the want of a firm editor.

"That's why it had to be a triple album," says Strummer in Westway, which devotes twice the screen time to Sandinista! as to London Calling. "Even though it would have been better as a double album, or a single album, or an EP! Who knows? The fact is that we recorded all that music, in one spat, at one moment. In one, three-week blast. For better or worse, [Sandinista!] is the document."

Worth pointing out that they insisted it was released at the price of a single LP and took a cut in their own royalties to do this.

Great album. Favourite at would probably be Magnificent Seven. Always liked Rebel Waltz, The Equaliser, Police On My Back, oh and lots more, changes with my mood. Actually haven't listened to the album for a while, must stick the CD in the Car.:)

I bought Sandinista cos I wanted 'Armagideon times' only to find it wasn't on there as a track but the inside sleeve was called it, was gutted at the time and then played all 3 albums and loved it all.

favs=Washington Bullets + Charlie don't surf

:cool:

The Call Up or One More Time/One More Dub

I love this album. Haven't played it for years as I only have it on vinyl & no turntable.

There's some odd people on here. I wonder how BAD music has to get before SOMEONE comes on here praising it???

Are you the one who gets to decide what music has merit? I wondered who that was.

Tell me, I'm not sure which Public Enemy album to like the most. Please advise.
