The Champions League Final Thread

Fuck Milan were bad last night.

Gotta to feel in the final, one of them HAS to attack!

One thing about Milan is even at 2-0 down they still sat back and defended, they can't change their game.

Luckypool must fany their chances

I understand that Milan have now insisted that all linesmen for the final have eye tests and are not fans of the Beatles.
Yeah yeah yeah........

She loves you...... :D

get the fuck out.

you sound like those people saying to me that i should support man united in the cup final against munich ... im a man city fan ffs. and while we're at it, i also hate "ooh look how much passion and history we have" liverpool, so come on Milan.

I'm not saying that because Liverpool are an English club, but because AC Milan are the dullest team ever!

listening to the commentators start on about 19fucking66 and all that again the other night just reminded me why i am loathe to see english teams do well - ye never hear the fucken end of it.

How can you support a team who are so mind-numbingly dull?

And its not as if AC Milan even have crap players and have to play like that?

I would rather gnaw my own arm off than watch another final like the 2003 final.

Yes liveprool can be boring, but they are like watching brazil compared to milan.

As I said this has nothing to do with liverpool being english - i would support just about any team against Milan.

Lads, I'm best man at a wedding in a bit, so you'll have to battle through this Friday without me. It'll be tough, and some of you may be lost, but overall I'm sure you'll cope.

Before I do depart, I just wanted to tell you that I got through on the UEFA lottery for tickets (as did two of my mates - lucky or what?)

So on May 25th, whilst Chuck Wilson is sitting here:

I will be sitting here, middle tier, near end, where it starts to bend round:

Have a great day.

so which urbanites will be travelling over, and do any of yyou fancy a get together? i will be there tues - fri. then we can have a return meeting at glasto

Liverpool and Milan is all very well, but I think it's too early to rule out the mighty Glasgow Celtic for the Champion's League. We are masters of the late come-back, and though Liverpool and Milan are in the final already, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Hoops join them there :)

I don't mind coming round to your house to watch the game but you surely aren't expecting me to service the wife whilst you are away?

Nothing to worry about there Frieda - I'll be too busy getting pissed and sunburnt to throw patio chairs at the police. Anyway, that's more of a cockney tradition.

Tickets just arrived 5 mins ago...

It's looking good. ;)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/4530239.stm

Milan were due to wear their usual red and black stripes after being drawn as the 'home' team.

But the two clubs have agreed that the Italians will play in white - which they wore while beating Juventus to claim the Champions League in 2003.

Liverpool's four previous European Cup victories have come while wearing red against teams playing in white.

Nice to see the posed group photo of all the U75 LFC supporters who actually come from Liverpool.

That said, now Everton have qualified, I'd be quite happy (if not ecstatic) to see LIverpool win. Mind you, the last and only time I ever really wanted LFC to win a final (the FA cup vs park side Wimbledon) the gob-shites only went and lost, didn't they?

Ah, the people's club nonsense again.

For the record, Lawrence, I think you'll find there is a higher percentage of Blues on here that don't come from Liverpool. Flimsier, Yoss, Mwgrdg (or whatever), Agricola... I do believe you're the only one. If you are a scouser at all - my bet is on Widnes or Runcorn.

Yeah I suppose me living across the great gulf of the Mersey makes me one of those home county travelling reds

Any way here's something for your peoples club myth.

I was in the vice presidents suite at goodison on Sat I took my niece from Warrington ;) who at the age of ten is a very serious fan of your lot. A bluenose business partner of mine from shefield ;) has a table in the suite. We normally meet up with another bluenose from Essex ;) ,who has a season ticket in the park end, for a few pints before the game in that lovely pub the Wilmslow.
Anyway that's a few asides but I was chatting to Brian Labone (as you do) about next season and he said that a few people in the suite are a bit upset at next year’s prices. The ticket currently costs £1,850 and next season it is set to rise to over £3K. Both the vice pres and the Alex Young suit are full of hardworking scousers who pay that little bit extra to do it posh and meet a few ex-players. They are not very happy and it certainly seemed to take the edge off the celebrations on sat.
I spoke to a couple of blues who often give me the once over cos they know I’m a red who said they’d even pulled Playwrite over it and he claims he knew nothing about the huge price increases.
It seems what is happening is if you want to keep your ticket in the posh bit for next season you have to pay for what was usually an optional meal. Meaning more sit down tables for expensive tax dodging clients and less bar space for the chang drinking local punters who pay over the odds to watch hoof it football.

‘Pushing out the people's club’ hey making way for the prawn sarnie brigade. :D

You heared it here first

oh right sorry - tryin to think of some liverpool fans on here who make the effort to support their team in europe rather than just shout about it 24/7 on internet message boards.... but i'm struggling here.

what about 30year old virgins that never left the liverpool postode in their lives - that any use to you?

Hey i hope your guys not taking our penalties :D

Great game BTW

one week to go

You can smell it :)

Two more sleepless nights and judgement day will be upon us. :D

You can almost smell the flares burning.

LIVERPOOL jetted out to Istanbul for the club's biggest game for 20 years with the message from Rafa Benitez: "We have nothing to fear."

The Reds squad left John Lennon Airport today as underdogs. If they return with the European Cup when they land on Thursday afternoon, they'll join the ranks of Anfield immortals.

I see AC Meeelana have been practicing YNWA in recognition of facing one of the most feared sides in Europe this year. ;) :D
Italia salutes us

A poll at the Liverpool echo website has been running this week to establish who the people of Liverpool think has been LFC's best player this season and no surprises for who's come out on top with a massive 53% of the vote.
Jamie for PM here

It's been a troubled season and no true Liverpool fan would even try to suggest that this has been an outstanding season for us. Injuries have plagued our season from the onset of the premiership. I recall us loosing 5 players in as many games early on in the season. But when it has counted we have done our job in this competition and on numerous occasions when others had us down to fail we prevailed.

Whatever happens we have earned our place in this final and have made it without the Chelsea millions and Manure and Arsenil abundance of international superstars. Excluding the Nevils of course. Some of the player's called for duty in Liverpools team this season wouldn't even get on the bench of the reserves with these three giants. But this has been an 'all hands to the pumps' campaign rarely seen in football these days. :p

It's time to realise the dream and watch history in the making all over again.

Come on Liverpool

Pass and move to the Liverpool groove.

European Competitions
UEFA Cup (Fairs Cup)
1972-73 (winners), 1975-76 (winners)

European Cup:
1976-77 (winners), 1977-78 (winners), 1980-81 (winners), 1983-84 (winners), 1984-85(runners-up) 2004-05 (...............)

The match officials are from Spain.

Referee: Manuel Enrique MEJUTO GONZALEZ

Assistant Referees: Oscar David Martinez SAMANIEGO, Clemente Ayete PLOU

Fourth Official: Arturo Dauden IBANEZ

You've got arguably the best ref in Europe there. For anyone struggling to remember who he is, he did the Arsenal-Chelsea Champions League semi-final first leg last year, and he did it superbly. An Iberian referee who can spot diving, play advantage and doesn't always bury games under a mountain of cards is an extreme rarity.

Of course, the fact that Mr Benitez shares nationality will not be called into question at all, should Liverpool win on Wednesday ;)
