no i'm pointing out to a psoter who usually has the deceny to tke constructive critisim on board that they maybe need to take a break from the keyboard for a bit because they are getting needlessly wound up by things which are in consiqunetual if they are really an issue then you have recourse and the good sense on how to use it to censor what is happening so use it for god's sake.

your this board these discussion change nothing and are becoming circular each good point or side of debate you make becomes colour and tarnished by your circular arguments. You want change to happen on how you are treated on the boards then make the change. Each time you enaguge with the trolling you expeirnce people use it to wind you up. Stop it. no, however if you are discussing to change someones mind then yes, if you are discussing it to formulate and make more cohesive your own ideas then yes it's benifical, but usually only to you. this becomes a sort of nazel gazing if oyur not careful where you ideals become disconnected from the real problems and inflexible...

It's a textural medium a lot of intent is lost its like all textural mediums should be a refference not at method of communication i mean do you have better conversations with your mates my msn or in person? why is that the unwritten communication that's why it's shit... It's why people have meetings face to face to agree things.

Oh i don't think it has to have the dogma of a relegion behind it however it's understandable that those types of things still have sway after all modern poltics is just a refinement of the same releigious arguments we've been having since steve the caveman wanted to worship that tree and bob the cave man want to worship the rock...

The social aspect of it is what do you want to worship in essence the tree or the rock... these alliences happen in different forms from music liked to football clubs supported etc etc...

internet debates are good for that level of tribalism usually there are no key identifiers so people only have your words so the attempt to recreate those tribal divides by point scoring they don't chanllenge their own view poitns rather they defend their comments, this become adveraial and bang your are wrapped right back into the system you were trying to aviod by the net being the great leveller its not ever going to be.

the net is the closet thing we have now got to working anarchy people do what they want how they want to enforce a set of rules on that seems alien to the concept of the world wide web. The freedom of speech is in essence the freedom to talk shit too...

that should never be controlled really we can accpet that there are agreed norms no sexist racist homophobic etc but you can't police people if they do decide to do that. the best you can do is lock them out but if they are determined they'll still come back. contraversally different or contrary opinions don't always help sort thigns out and becuase they are so free form and time delayed it means all to oftern these things becoem personal rathr than about the topic in hand. and it derils the original discussion...

A lot of the debates on here quickly degenerate into slagging matches.
For me it is often quite amusing. But i agree ultimately pointless.
The main reason that threads all seem to detiorate,is a few people (one in particular) who seem to deliberately turn even the smallest disagreement into a personal affront.
But others on here, seem obsessed by the minutae of political disagreement and end up missing the wider picture.
