Personally i think this a great idea and if people adhered to it might lead somewhere my only concern is that the use of statistics and links would only serve to keep debates rather pedestrian in that it is often what is not said or spoken about which is as important as that which is . Otherwise we could just be following the political agenda as set by the media and irrelevant politcal parties.But a good start none the less
What I mean is, debate between people within a particular struggle, rather than between people who are involved in different struggles. For instance, Royal Mail Chat is, IMO, far more interesting and infinitely more useful than these boards for political purposes. I'd love to see more sites like that set up, which seem far more useful than general political discussion boards, where threads tend to vanish up their collective arses.durruti02 said:

really primamrly the reason people argue on here is uttery boredom, sheer desperation. No one takes or argues from standpoitns there is no coda of debate or agree deabting rules it's not a consensious and this means it's a free for all... If you want civil debate cease to enguage with those you deem uncivilised however as these disaffected or troublesome people might actually be the very people you are attempting to engauge therein lies the rub...
people feel passionate about their particular soap box issues and the itnernet isn't the place for sensible discussion of them. Action always has to be real and practical and will never be further by in essence insituationalising it and turning it in to some sort of shooting match for those privierldged with internet access.... basically if you have enough spare cash to have internet access as in disposable income you are part of the global problem and aren't no matter what lable you want to place on it impoverished enough to actually have anything relevant to say on the matter other than being from a patronising stance of those above telling those below what to do... hierachy in action forced by the ecomomies of scale and enforced by the dogmas of capitalism.
equally if you are educated enough to have an understanding of the oldschool left right debate and the factions fractures and schisms with in it again you are to far removed to bhave anything of relevance to say....
Nothing repeat nothing will ever be solved by the internet it might in more localised acitons allow for small scale communtication or reportage of actions or situations which need alerting or raising in essence though it's merely another advertising medium with little wholesome content on it. If you like a fancy typewritter with the abiltiy to see moving images and sound as well as written text. Just as litter was changed by the socialities of the vicotrian times and the inception of the chattering classes by the letter writing age this is merely replication by repettition for the modern blogging age...

You want to see change in the world then effect that change in the world there's nothing like people with cast stone mantras bleating on in some self congratulatory circle jerk on the internet to turn normal people off your idea quicker...

I have for years detested how 'the left' seems incapable of conducting discourse in any mode other than shrill, spite-laced rant.
I think the problem you'll get is; people on the left in particular are passionate about their political beliefs (what on earth is the point in having them if you're not?) and that can/does boil over into passionate hatred, excessively personalised, of all those who don't see things your way. They become The Enemy.
And as a result, before long - especially when mixed with the ongoing ego-wars that are the lot of any BB - you have one endless slanging match that throws neither heat or light on matters

the problem is in essence that left wing politics is the art of single issues which demand are taken into consideration as opposed to right wing poltics which is cohesive. As nearly all left wing poltics are reactions to implamentations of the whole which is right wing politics ie they are single or several refinements comprimises of exisitng systems it will always be fragmented as it isn't a formed theroy but one born out of oppostition to the status quo... in short all left wing poltics are in essence caring conformist right wing polices...Red Jezza said:
