You queue at the Information desk in the Turbine hall for tickets. You get a timed slot for each slide. The slides from the bridge are no ticket. No bags allowed (use cloakroom or leave with mates) and no cameras and other loose stuff. Allow extra times for extra goes.:D

the queues aren't really the problem, it's *getting a ticket* which can be difficult... they allocate a set number of tickets at 1/2 hour intervals, and once the tickets are gone, they are gone. When you see how they manage the slide (i.e. with CCTV), you'll see why. Although I didn't get to do the full slide today, I'm glad I went, because now I know how to ensure I get a ride next time. :D

Photography is allowed in the Turbine Room, but you'll have to hide your camera in a pocket as they don't allow you to take anything onto the slide (especially not bags). I took my camera with me though (naughty) :)

that's what the CCTV is for, they don't let anyone on at the top until the previous person arrives at the bottom. it doesn't take long to get down there. ;)

The cost of staffing the slides means they are temporary.:(

We never needed marshalls in the playground. :D

There was a mention of a pre-techno outing on that Saturday for those going to Soviet.

Should you be into techno, of course.;)

I will be able to do the slide meet, but unfortunatly not the techno one. (I'm sill off the drugs for a bit)

I was there yesterday (haven’t read the whole thread) but the small slide is just turn up and ride and the bigger ones you need to book but all are free

Edit That is what we were told yesterday but I guess it depends how busy they are

I'd definitely have come on Friday if I'd been free :(

For those who have been, can you get the tickets for the slide in advance?

ie - can you pop along in the morning to get tickets for the afternoon, or on Thursday to get tickets for Friday?

Or is it a case of turn up at 4pm to get a ticket valid between 4pm and 5pm?

When we were there yesterday (not a very busy day) we were told you need to book, but we didn’t ask anymore than that, but the small slide is first come first served.

I have to say I wouldn’t go there just to go down the slide it takes about 5 seconds and its all over.

the guy from the museum said it was safer then stairs and escaloters but I bet it
would be dangerous if more then oone person went down at and time and get bunged up...
