Small sandwiches taste different: higher exposed-edge to middle-bit ratio and higher total-surface-area to volume ratio.

Actually, if you really like the taste of pointy bits... where the exposed and oxidising edge is closer to more middle bit... um, can I change my vote?
:( beat me to the geeky explanation by a mile

Hot sandwiches <bacon, snorker, eggy etc> uncut.

Cheese square cut.

Ham and other cold meats triangular.

Squares, triangles... I just can't decide :(

It's best if I'm not given choices, because they lead to a miserable indecisive state which leaves me agitated and gloomy.

Think it's just best if I stick with baps.

can i just say, i liked MrMalcontent.

Thanks

see now its changed there's misty eyes.

Before I changed it a couyple of people told me that it made them think of a grumpy old man. Which I am. But still. I want people to have to work for that conclusion.

You're all posh fuckers - triangular bloody butties indeed  With FLAGS no less!

Squares - that's the only right and proper way to cut butties, then you can dunk the crust in your cup of tea without losing any filling

you dunk the crust of your sandwich in your tea? urgh :(
You don't? Bleurghhhh :(

Nah, not really. Not with most anyway. Only peanut butter butties. And cheese butties. The odd marmite butty maybe...but certainly not ALL

Obviously it depends on the filling.
And what about pinwheel sandwiches, eh? Eh?

What the fuck is a pinwheel sandwich?

Always triangles for me unless it is a sausage sandwich because otherwise they end up shaped funny and there's always a bit of sausage that falls out.

Magic Sam thinks triangle sandwiches are poncey.

I'm liking this for the panache of your bump, not because I agree with the sentiment. Refinement and courtesy require sandwiches be cut.

For some reason this was at the top of the boards for me this morning!

Mind you, there was some other things going-on, like posts taking ages to show-up and alerts not cancelling, so it could have been some PC/board strangeness! :)

i firmly believe that triangle sandwiches taste better than square ones

i dont know why, but they do

fact

are you with me, or somewhere else?

But is the more conventionally sliced sandwich (and/or toast) REALLY two squares?

Isn't more two rectangles or two oblongs rather than, strictly speaking, two squares?

I think this debate has legs and thus I'm wondering whether or not it doesn't justify its own thread, personally.

Remove crusts, add filling, roll up tightly, then slice.

cut according to what you dip them in

for soup you can go wide assuming your entering a bowl. so triangle is fine

go rectangle if your dipping it into a pot noodle.

of course the real dilema is if it end up being cup a soup
