The Big Chill, Eastnor

I'll be going to this (at the risk of shameless self-promotion) performing with these chaps, keep an eye out.
I see on the website that there's going to be a ceilidh Whapweasel, who are very good indeed.

Barbeque - sure any of you lot are welcome. Nearer the time, we'll sort something out. :) We plan to get there early on Thursday so we can get a nice spot to camp in. Looking forward to meeting everyone. :)

Yay Citydreams! so pleased you are coming again!

Just to say - we are willing to offer a lift in our van in return for a bit of petrol money - theres room for two!

What time are you heading down on Thursday? I'm not sure what time my girlfriend is finishing work, maybe about midday, I'll talk to her tonight. I'd provide petrol money and liquid refreshments. :)

You could always put up a tent in the vehicle field, there's loadsa space for young'uns.

I think we're just gonna camp in the family field. Though I will visit any U75'ers in the campervan field (especially if there's bbq food yum yum!)

Not quite sure yet - but what we did when we were at Glasto last year,

(and this offer is open to anyone struggling there on public transport)

was to take the booze orders before we set off and pick everything up at a supermarket on the way. Then when we got there peeps came to our van and picked up their booze and reimbursed us.

Edited: We are now travelling thinking about the night before, so we can be there early on the Thursday - booze offers still stand!

Was suprised not to see Mr. Scruff on the line up as he played an amazing set at the last one a attended a few years back. I thought he was firmly entrenched in the Big Chill with his tea stall and all that.

I think he's getting married that same weekend. It wouldn't surprise me if he still turns up though.

My tickets arrived yesterday

I went to the first. It was nice enough.

It was very middle class.

I was eventually ostracised by everyone I went with ( a small, groundbreaking, internet company ) for taking too many drugs, being visibly drunk and generally vulgar.

Which was a shame, because the girls were nice :(

Who (or what) is that then?

Nouvelle Vague are a group who do cover versions of rock records such as Love Will Tear us Apart, Too Drunk to Fuck, Guns of Brixton, Making Plans For Nigel etc, in a jazzy bossanova style with female vocalists. They're very good on record - sometimes better than the originals - but whether they'll be any good live is another matter.

please "sell" me The Big Chill

I've just noticed there may still be tickets for this ...

Do you think a 45 year old could go and have a good time ?

(all the photos on the website are of bright young things ...)

Glasto wasn't my thing when I went there almost 20 years ago and the music at least seems just my cup of tea ....

I spent several years going to rave and clubby type things but never became part of the scene ...

Is there dancing or is it a sit down thing ?
(I do like to shift my rather amply proportioned derrière if the music and company are appropriate)
.

though it doesn't say so on the website, is this now neccessarily a project for 2006 in any case ?

.
.

Yes. The Big Chill is just that.. a chance to chill out in a beautiful environment with a good choice of music. It never gets hectic. The most you have to worry about is whether you want to read the guardian or wear it as a sun hat.

I don't think age comes into it. Though given the pace of the festival it does make you wonder if not everyone there has retired already :)

but is there dancing ?

Or is this yet another event where anyone over 25 is out of place on the dancefloor ?

Of course, theres a dance tent and tons of dancing throughout the festival. I'm 35 and I don't feel out of place either. Give it a try.

My mum's going this year, and she's 60+.

And dancing occurs all over the site, as the sun goes down and the partying begins :)

evening everyone,

just got back from working at eastnor this weekend. I was marshalling a 24hr bike event so am currently very tired as i have not slept for over 30hours now.

eastnore was looking nice, saw a deer, it dried up today and was almost gettng dusty on the bike trails, so fingers crossed for august. But hey, it hereforshire, anything can happen.

i will be there with some buddies from ledbury and will probably stop by westons cider shop to get some quality local beverages.

any tips as we are all 20-28? just keeped relaxed (chilled)?

keep your eyes out for us maybe skanking to the trojan sound system!

I don't think you have to be relaxed to enjoy the festi.. I was just remembering how much the Strongbow tent rocked last year, and noticed that Bent are hosting it for a while too :)

Actually, coming to think of it the Gin Palace was quite rocking too, but it was on a bit of a slope that meant you kind of slid down to the exit and had to walk back round the front to find your spot again :D

I have it on good authority (a mate is one of the organisers) that tickets will most probably sell out over this weekend so I'd get your skates on if you're thinking of going.

I've got me tent! Got a smaller one in the end but it was £100 cheaper.

Looking forward to the Big Chill now. :)
