The general theme of this thread started out with some posters (me included) suggesting that because so many Scots/Irish have such a knee jerk reaction against the English football team, that their opinions that England not winning the world cup are less valid than those of English supporters.
I come out with a similarly knee jerk irrational jibe against the Irish and suddenly me and/or English people are harbouring latent hatred for all Scots/Irish/Welsh etc...
Stupid and of no consequence is what it all is.

The only reason I'm glad the World Cup is due to commence is the knowledge that the sheer number of people it draws in and off the streets makes it very pleasant to go out during the weekend to those areas which previously would have been overcrowded. During a previous WC , my commute from Reading to London was shortened by an hour as the roads were empty. [ I believe it was England v. Argentina ].
I am not an England supporter in the World Cup because I don't watch football. Not becase I am an "England Hater".
