Zidane for the gloriously elegant and calm manner in which he played with the Brazilians. There have been no other performances like it. There is no one else like him.
Bizarrely Henry is nominated as one of the ten for player of the tournament, despite doing nothing of any note other than dive against Spain and go down very dramatically from a soft kick last night. Anybody any idea why? Same goes for Ballack who's also been nominated.
But Henry hasn't looked anything like as impressive in this world cup as he does for Arsenal... Reinforcing the notion that the Prem isn't that great a league (for all its thrills and spills)
That is mostly because Henry is played as a lone striker when Zidane is in the French team ...a position which doesn't ideally suit him.
I think he has shown enough in the league and Europe to prove that he is in a different class to people like Gerrard and Ballack.
Anyway, fuck it. We all have different opinions. That's football. I can't help feeling that there is a fair degree of English bias in these sorts of discussions though. It's a kind of arrogance that the English are so famous for ...and holds their national team back from learning how to get better at football.
