The best old-skool house comp ever ...

808 State are mentioned in the first post.

Altern 8....what's that one that goes "top one, nice, one, get sorted"....Infiltrate?
Activ8 isn't it. I loved a bit of Altern8. Watch your bass bins

Reminds me as well about that tune Anastasia by T99, proper ravey music.

Altern8 were a proper poppy rave thing which is what made them great - that and getting his daughter to say 'Top one, nice one, get sorted' as a sample :D

I would add Positive Education by Slam to my list, and Aceperience. Not house, but awesome tunage.

What else...hmmm...

Actually, Cream Anthems Vol 1 (original release) is pretty good:

bit later, but I loved

open your mind - felix
dont you want me - ursula

And most of the stuff on deconstruction.

49ers, Touch Me. Big Italian house screamer type thing.

Oh, and to repeat:

gat decor - passion
La Luna - Bang! To The Beat of the Drum (one of my top 10 all time favourite choons)

They do, but you're correct, they aren't old skool house. However it was the rest of the tracks on the album especially those in bold that I was drawing attenttion to :p

Shannon - let the music play
Glam - Hells Party
Fluke - Slid (Scat & Frenzy)
React 2 Rhythm - Intoxication
Colonel Abrahams - Trapped
Farley jackmaster Funk - Love cant turn around
Marshal jefferson - move your body

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone - Soulseek's throwing up a few gems thanks to this thread.

'Ozone Breakdown' particularly. Had an 'aah, that's what this tune was called' moment with that one. Thanks, pk.

Also I have hazy recollections of a song with a Queen sample (I think) in it going 'Is this the real life?' over and over. Anyone know what that is?

corporation of One - real life

It's just vocals from Bohemian Rhapsody over a Simple Minds instrumental with some drums thrown in

great tune though

I'd nominate my sound by Joey Beltram
