The best of Trojan

This is a great Box Set
MusicCatalog_V_VA-TrojanUpsetterBox.jpg

Just get onto Torrents and search for Trojan box set and you'll get loads.

I already have loads I was wondering what people's favourites are.

I have a Christmas one and it is fucking gash :D

When I win the lottery I am going to buy everything on the Greensleeves label.

I have the Trojan seventies box set which I enjoy muchly. I have very fond memories of dancing to the sounds of Nicky Thomas and Desmond Dekkar in the early seventies while sporting my tonic dress and feathered haircut. :)

the gaz's Rockin Blues Club Classics cheapo CD is pretty tops. one CD of RnB/blues/rock n roll and one of ska and reggae.

it's got a brilliant ska version of the theme from Rawhide which sounds like the band is drunk :D

There's a really good mix album by Mad Lib ( I think) called Blunted In The Bomb Shelter which uses pure Trojan goodness :)

Trojan are cheeky fuckers - comp after comp with almost identical tracklists - but if you keep an eye on what's on them, you can get a lot of classic stuff for not much money.

Although the Soul Jazz studio one comps are better :)

wot Jefery said.

i get a bit irritated by Trojan box sets tbh.

As of September 2007, 69 Box Sets have been released, giving a total of 3,436 tracks. 67 of these Box Sets contain 50 tracks each, whilst the Trojan 12” Box Set contains only 35 tracks and the Trojan Reggae Rarities Box Set has 51 …the extra one being the hidden Emperor Rosko track (the cover of Whistling Jack Smith's "I Was Kaiser Bill’s Batman").

67 are titled "Trojan <something> Box Set", 2 are not: Creole Reggae Box Set and RAS Reggae Box Set.

God there's so much of th stuff mentioned on this thread that I WANT.

I have plenty of roots stuff including plenty o' Trojan, but I barely scratch the surface of what's available ....

<but makes notes :) >

There was this bloke I knew who said he had it all on vinyl but each time I asked to see it it was always in the lock up.

I remember in the late 70's/early 80's when me and my mates were getting into this you'd find older brothers and uncles had a few lumps of vinyl which they pass on, every time they'd been played so much they were either effectively smooth, or scratched beyond hope.

More seriously, this is worth a look if you're after a quick intro.
