The Beehive, Brixton Road, Brixton

There is a manager there who some of the regulars nickname the traffic warden who refused to change my pint depite it tasting vinegary he also tried to insult my intelligence by trying to fob me off with the excuse that "some beers come out like that". I see a complaint to Wetherspoons with a separate complaint to trading standards.

That's a real no no for a Wetherspoons pub, since the chain prides itself of the sale of quality real ale. Good luck with your complaint.

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but it didn't seem worth starting a brand new thread just to say I've posted up a review of the Beehive here.

I think I've been pretty fair, but I'd be interested to hear other opinions (although Choc's contribution at the start of this thread is likely to remain my favourite!).

It's always been a pub I like the idea of rather than like drinking in. The drunker I was the more I enjoyed it because to be fair the clientele could be challenging at times

I like it in there when the footy scores come on and there's little whoops of joy from Palace, Orient and Millwall fans when they do well.
We met one of the Brixton Goggle box ladies in there not so long back, very friendly she was as are most of the customers during the day.
Only been in once in the evening and there was a gig on at the academy so it just seemed like a totally different pub, except the toilets, nothing can change them:)

It's a typically blokes weatherspoons type a place. I'm sure I've had food in there. Found it a little bit crowded as well.

its alright on the rare occasions it isn't too busy. i wouldnt go in there if i wasn#t in a mood to make new friends though. they're a friendly bunch.

One of the few affordable pubs in Brixton. The beers are good.

Its different on Saturday afternoons. More younger people in there. People out shopping in Brixton and then come to the pub. I rather like it at that time. Its a standard boozer.

It also provides somewhere to go for the old guys who at one time would have been in The Railway. Which is a plus point for me. As these guys would have no where to go if it was not for Wetherspoons.

I do not like the decor or the layout. Feels cramped and uncomfortable. Unless you get a table in one of the alcoves on the side. The front of pub is preserve of the all day clientele. I have seen them outside before it opens.

Funny you should mention that. There was a bit of queue outside this morning and as I sailed past on the bike, I couldn't work out if they were waiting for Beehive to open, or the Nationwide next door. I think it was probably the Nationwide this time.
