The BBC Olympic Title Sequence...

Beautifully done (and a great tie-in for their opera) although to be honest I'm surprised someone with Albarn's political track record touched it.

Apparently there's a reason for the 8.8.8.. apart from the symmetry, is there a numerological reason or something?

What happened to the "British" in BBC? This slightly jerky in parts cartoon has no British connections.

No Union Flag, no landmarks, no athletes.

Bet it cost a bomb - more licence payers' cash wasted - please change it so at least we have something British in it.

And the words are not even in English.

Fly the flag not the monkey

What a twat :D

Love it! Can imagine it'll get a good slating by the general public, like.

Also love this comment:

Never heard of "Monkey" and after seeing this I'm not surprised.
Techno thumping music? or noise I would call it, accompanied by alien (to me) modern jerky style characters, who I have never heard of - does absolutely nothing to introduce one of the greatest sporting occasions there is.

Why must everything these days be animated cheapo drawing stuff - just look at the Childrens' programmes - packed full of this animated trash.
Just like the endless audience participation junk we see.
Cheap dumbed down television once again.

Why don't we just send cartoon characters to the Olympics - just the thing for modern Britain.

Dumbed down? Lawl.

I saw it on telly. I love how you can still recognise a Jamie Hewlett animation within 2 seconds flat.

Aw.

*cuddles old Tank Girl comics*

Joe Wiley was banging on about this on Radio 1 this morning - she almost put me off it the sour faced annoying twat that she is. However she was right for a change.

They're not seriously going to use this as this opening credits for every prog on the Olympics are they?

That really would quite extraordinary. I mean, how much of an anticlimax will Steve Rider's face be after being subjected to that??

It's fantasitc. I loves it, possibly a bit more than I loved the opera!

Typical reactions from many on the blog tho - it's exactly the same as the replies when Eavis announced Jay-Z was to headline Glastonbury, the same combination of closet racism and 'OMG!! SOMETHING NEW!!! SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!!'
